Wests Gone

There will no longer be a Wests first grade team. Wests and Toowoomba are both aligned with the Broncos and only the Wests A grade and Colts will survive. Although, The wests players will be able to play for the Toowoomba first grade side. Sad news for the club and Wests supporters. Jeffrey will be shattered.

There's a lot more to it than that. Make no mistake they'll be back eventually. And it was a choice taken by the club, and not lightly.

Watch this space for further news over the next month ....

Yet again the ruling types at Gabba Towers fiddle and argue about important issues like the golden point and representative selections
whilst tradition falls by the wayside and rugby league burns.

Bit sad to see another club already picking over the carcass of the poor old Panthers but what would you expect from a Seagull... I hear Geoffrey was seen at the weekend with a Wynnum jersey on!!
What was the transfer fee??

I think the Sunny Coast are interested in joining in the Mixwell Comps for a couple of seasons before jumping into the Qld Cup.

I reckon Wests will be back in 2005 anyway. As soon as the Broncos contract finishes on the mountain top they'll come down to Purtell.
In my opinion it makes sense for the Broncos to take over Wests with the close proximity of the two clubs. And then maybe a true Toowoomba side can represent the area, that the people will get behind.
I would also like to see Wests be able to stand alone but I just can't see that happening at present.
I suppose it's better seeing NRL clubs take over like the Storm did at Norths than see them die all together.
Any thoughts from the Wests supporter and Norths supporters.

Yeah I totally agree. I've heard talk that Norths would be struggling without the Storm, so the current arrangement is fine by me. It's still Norths, they still play out of Bishop and of course Irene is still there.

I'd prefer the old days when you had players playing primarily for the Devils jersey and there wasn't the instability of losing players to the NRL during the year, but it's not so bad watching some of these players progress through to the Storm. eg. Billy Slater, Cam Smith.

I don't get to many games these days, but when I do, I make sure I see the lower grades as well. That way it feels PURE NORFS!!

I think the alignment you got is pretty good, it brings quality players to Norths and insures the young blokes got a chance of making it in the big time.

I've heard a North Queensland Cowboys hooker from this year will be at a Brisbane club next year with a affiliation to an NRL, could it be Norths???

I take it you mean Paul Dezolt Harko, there are only two clubs it could be then Norths or Toowoomba. I've also heard he's been in talks with a few other clubs as well.
