as you would well know, being in the squad is a long way short of being selected in the team. Unless there is a very bad run with injuries the highlighted names will all (apart from Collis) be playing Flegg to start the year (when the majority of the TS games are). Keep drawing that bow any longer and the damn thing'll snap ink ;-)

So why dont the Bulldogs cop all this flak as well?

They were there before Wests even thought of Orana Pk.
.
Maybe thats why its been so difficult, its one thing for a Canberra raiders or Newcastle Knights to set up a team and garner support when there are NO other options for people, but lets face it, Liverpools just up the road and has been a Doggies stronghold for many years....its not like weve had everything our own way, and yes I agree mistakes have been made in the past and are being made now.....its just I can see WestsTigers point of view in all this.

Not sure what you're on about here. Sure there was a bit of support for the doggies in the area, but there is equally a fair bit of support for Parra, Penrith and heaps of other clubs as people retained their old loyalties when they moved out for cheaper digs.

Liverpool is a fair way from Belmore. It wasn't Bulldogs territory no matter what propaganda the Dogs might have sprouted when they were trying to get the Oasis up. (I wonder how much affection for them there is now amongst the rate payers who had $12mil of their money pissed up a wall?) So it's a completely different scenario. The Dogs are not a JV and they moved because their council wouldn't upgrade.

WT's are a JV formed supposedly to ensure Campbelltown still had a First Grade team. That was a massive part of the propaganda push in 99 from Marsden and his cronies. It should surprise no one that when people find out it was just more BS that they should be angry. If the plan was just to bail completely then they should have merged with Melbourne and at least kept the colours.

If the Tigers do succeed at Telstra (the fact the Bulldogs won't make the full time move there should demonstrate why they won't) then good luck to them. But let's drop the pretence that WT's are anything other than a completely new club formed in 99. They can go off and follow their own destiny how they choose. Western Suburbs though have to make our own decisions independent of WT's and look after ourselves too. And that certainly means staying as far from TS as possible.

Whilst some rumours can be believeable others you know deep down that they will happen, if Wests Tigers were to move full time to Telstra Stadium then it would be suicidal. Whilst both sides of the JV could understand a full move to either Cambo, Leichhardt or even Concord, just about all would stop supporting the club if they moved full time to TS.

In saying that, yeah i could see WT doing that. However if they did (and this has nothing to do with the doggies.... and it actually is a very smart idea!) then I would give up rugby league... no doubt!

...and im 100% sure that the majority of Balmain, Wests and Wests Tigers fans would follow me!

It's going to happen Cul......they won't go back to C'town and Leichhardt on a 6-6 basis....Homebush Tigers here we come - i guess Homebush is west enough for them

Full time move to Telstra??

But on the official Tigers forum they are saying that both Cambo and LO will be renovated by 2008??

on the proviso that the federal government/state government and local council chip in 1/3 each which is obviously not going to happen.

still the cost of hiring these grounds plus providing lighting for tv.big screen etc etc means they even with a capacity crown won;e make a profit - corporate accommodation at stadium australia is on another planet compared to both wests tigers home grounds which is off course the bottom line nowdays.
Sandra Nori in her latest newsletter to members of the Port Jackson Electorate has re-affirmed her commitment to saving Leichhardt oval and these sentiments were reiterated in the Village Voice. So state government $ do look promising..
As for federal? We are pressuring John Howard's office particularly in light of his recent commitments to Saints and The Panthers.
We are asking for much less than he has promised them and our ground does service his electorate... We're not holding our breath but if the State Government does commit (we won't know this till the next budget) then it will but a lot of pressure on the federal government.. We'll wait and see but we'll keep fighting for it you can count on that!
It has to be noted that the STR, the Council, State Gov and the Balmain Tigers have been working very hard with consultants to find other uses for the ground so it is more of a community asset and not just for the Tigers.. We've come up with quite a few other uses and you can expect news of another sporting franchise playing out of there in the very near future....

I wouldn't be so sure Impel.
Firstly this is not the first time a side has gone to Telstra and they did leave for a reason, this is very much still an experiment..
Secondly Telstra Stadium is in very poor shape financially and the amount of $ they have commited to us per game is a BIG gamble to try and get some content for their high paying members that have been starved of events since the RWC. I have strong doubts that our move will slow the cancellations of memberships and thus that Telstra will be able to sustain the deal. That goes for the dogs games too!
Most TS members want BIG events like the ones that enticed them in the first place (Olympics and WRC), NRL club sides will struggle to deliver regular events to the extent that would warrant the high costs of membership.
Also there is comments from the Club (both Noyce and Trodden) that we will return. I'm not so niave to take their word for it, we've had way too many let downs in the past. But STR will most certainly be reminding them of this and pressuring them to keep these words. We've had way too many decisions made without member consultation (Wests and Balmain) and we will be pushing for far more accountability and justification for decisions that are made by Wests Tigers.

PS Impel good to hear from you mate long time no speak!

Supposedly wests tigers are considering a full time move to stadium australia/homebush in a joint partnership proposal with the canterbury bulldogs to lessen the costs of hiring the grounds and maximise profits by being able to offer the prospect of football each week at homebush.
.

FYI
I spoke with David Trodden Chairman Of West Tigers and Balmain Tigers about the above statement and he said in reply
"Totally untrue no body in our organisation has had such talks and that will not be happening"

will Balmain premier league side still play at leichardt ??

I was told last week they could be playing something like 4 games at TS next year and the rest will be played at LO

I'm hoping it'll be five, but I can live with 4. We don't want a bar of the joint.

but youd be happy playing a stand alone reserve grade game at lidcombe before a wests tigers game @ telstra

Um no. Never said it, never thought it, don't know what you're talking about. You may have seen on the Magpies site some discussion of playing a game at Pratten in conjunction with the Magpies old boys (Pratten Park Magpies) reunion. Nothing to do with the Tigers and even that would need careful thought. But I doubt you even knew about that - just another howler from King.

The one thing Wests are committed to is that their future is in Campbelltown and we don't want to start wandering around whoring ourselves to who ever is desperate enough to take us like the Tigers.

Sometimes King I really think you need to ask your vet to up the medication.
