It's about time for this merger to split. Put a premiership win against both clubs and move on.

Wests have the financial might to stand alone and a heap of area full of juniors.

Balmain would struggle as they have a small Leagues club, a stadium in continual need of repair and have let their juniors go from very strong participation levels to very poor over the past decade.

Speaking of inept management- isn't the CEO Monk a Tigers man?

Yea you seem to know what you are talking about.....................

Hey, your club found a CEO yet, here's a few options for you;

- Mel Gibson
- Tom Hanks
- Tom Cruise

'I wuv you big Dean Widders'...............give me a break!!!

If the merger was to split the Tigers would have no one to blame but themselves and fully fledged team based in the south west would florish if done correctly. And dont worry the JV know this thats why after giving only 3 games to cambo they have been constanly tellling us there commitment to cambo.

Not to mention other clubs have been looking at the district would be getting them alittle uneasy.

Even a merger like Canberra macarthur Magpies with 6 home split would be better than what we have now plus we can gain our 100 year old logo back aswell.

I thought this arrangement had been made official. From some of the early posts on this thread it appears it's not the case. Good! For all the pros it may provide the Magpies, it erodes their link to Wests Tigers. It would be one step closer to removing any association Wests Magpies have with the worlds Premier Rugby League competition.

THE WESTS Magpies are considering a surprise partnership with the Raiders next year, in a move potentially threatening to the future of the Wests Tigers joint venture.
Magpies chief executive Kevin Hammond last night confirmed Western Suburbs were talking to Canberra about fielding Raiders players in the Magpies Premier League team next year.
Hammond, who is also chairman of the West Tigers, denied linking with the Raiders would place the future of the joint venture in doubt.
"Some clubs won't be entering the Premier League next year so there has been some general discussion among the clubs to see what is going to happen.
"Canberra aren't entering a side in Premier league and they are looking for an alternative. They have identified Western Suburbs as an alternative."
Hammond said Wests would still "feed" players to the Wests Tigers.
"Our relationship with the Wests Tigers won't change," Hammond said.
"Our priority is still with them because we are joint partners and the situation with our juniors doesn't alter either."
Hammond agreed the Magpies were unhappy with an arrangement that sees players contracted to the Wests Tigers playing solely for Balmain Ryde in the Premier League instead of Wests.
A Magpies player elevated to the NRL joint venture can be lost to the club by being told to play for Balmain-Ryde if he is dropped.
"If you ask me if we are still disappointed about that, I have to answer yes," Hammond said. "But we are past that now. We have gotten on with life. We have had to get on with it in the interest of the club."
Hammond said no deal had yet been done with the Raiders and refuted claims the move would be destabilising.

Hammond .. another wests fossil/dinosaur.
Still at least this year the Chairmanship reverts to Balmain
And there are whispers of some impending arse kicking as supercoach and i aren't the only ones unhappy with the likes of noyce, shines and ronald's handling of the club since 05

Why not ? there not cashed up there crowds havent been good for awhile. Why not get a bigger fan base and even bigger jnr base that starts at liverpool ends in the ACT.
They would also get more commerical support from South west sydney and if done right support from the rich Southern highlands area. IMO this merger makes more sense then the crap we have now.

I'm pretty sure Yappy confirmed that the proposed merger was canned weeks ago.

And if any one would know, it would be him.

clown.

you're right about the supercoach, sizzler, noyce, comical, and big mac - inept. problem is its the ashfield directors who want em gone. they're protected by the combined intellectual might of balmain and campbelltown.

Yeah nothing came of it in the end. Excess players are split 50:50 now like they always should have been so no need for an outside partnership.Matt Head should look good in a Maggies jersey ;)
