Weyman and Canberra

Hi all,

Long time reader, first time poster. Supported the Dragons for thirty-odd years (and yes, as a Dragons supporter they have been odd years! ;-)).

Anyway, just wanted to ask if anyone else finds Mick Weyman's comments about how much he loves Canberra and the Raiders ( http://bigpondvideo.com/NRL_Dragons/200784 ) a bit strange. It comes across as he's treating it as a weekend away to catch up with friends rather than a competition game. I'm sure that's not how it is, but just hoping he's got his mind on the game.

I dont think its strange. He was at Canberra for 8 years like he said, so he would have a soft spot for them. Doesn't mean he wont be putting in a good performance tonight. He says he is loving his footy this year, even enjoys training and just cant wait to get on the park. Sounds good to me

I've been impressed with the way he has handled interviews this year.

Yeah, I'm sure as a professional footballer he's able to separate his 'love' (for want of a better word) for his opposition and his need to smash them in tonights game. Just think it's not great to admit your fondness for a club on the eve of the match against them. But he did say later (when asked whether Cooper would play) that he's "not too smart" so just concentrates on his own game. :lol:
