That was the best defence you had for league ? League was saying exactly that when they tried to hold the LWC in Eng. It just so happened that no one turned up. At least Union can say someone did to theirs.

Thats not exactly true, LWC was heavey promoted through the major league countries just like the union cup was, probably not with the same hype that went with union.

lets get this right. The total viewing audience peaked at 25 million-4 million in OZ & about 12.5 in the UK. That means about 7 million outside the two countries contesting the final watched the RUWC final.

Add in the viewing audience of France, SA & NZ (the top 5 contenders) this figure comes to 22.5 million. So about 2 million from rest of the non-rugby world (total world population is now about 6.3 billion) watched the final.

On the game -because Larkam was off the field for 28 minutes the OZ attach was disjointed. Anyway if Flattley had kicked the couple of goals ha had missed earlier the result may have been different.

Exciting because of the closeness-not because of the skill IMO.
