What's the diagnosis with Lyon? His test results come back yet? Any idea how long he's out for?

I'd ask on redvee but I can't be arsed starting another thread that gets invaded with teenyboppers all claiming to have talked to players. And all coming up with different stories varying from the wild to the wacky

Also, is it true he's flying back to Aus for the birth of his kid? And if so, when?

F@#k Lyon off. Great player, best centre in the world bar none, but man the guy's a rotten dog! A "man" who turns his back on his team and his mates is not worth having in a side, no matter how good he is.

On the update side Paul-t-c, I haven't heard anything since the weekend. There's meant to be a mid-week league newspaper published today which might have more info.

To be fair to Jamie that has never been in doubt. He signed a 2 year deal taking him up to the summer of 07 and he has made no promises about anything after that, saying publicly that he would like to return to Australia.

No one in England has a problem with Lyon, he seems a great lad. He also seems to be getting on very well at Saints, so unless he does one day bolt the stable its not fair to continually bag him over the Eels thing. Plenty of NRL players have stood back and wanted out, like Gasnier for one.

Good to hear he's OK after the fainting thing.

Jamie's contract prevents him turning out for Manly before 2007 NRL season. If he leaves St Helens, I understand the release from Parramatta to St Helens included a clause where Jamie would need to ask for a further release from Parramatta to play for anyone else, until his original Eels contract expires (end 2006 NRL season).

And all we know that Parramatta wouldn't allow him to play for Manly while they still have a say in it :D

Exactly, bartman! Though he might be missing the cold, cold weather in Aus :?

An Aussie bushboy getting heat stroke in March in Wigan. Who'd have thunk it? Especially as he's been freezing his nuts off all year and been wearing thermals! Glad to hear he's OK though. Sounded nasty.

Vinnie, Lyon and Albert have struck up an awesome partnership on the right side.

Saints did well in recruiting - this time last year (or even last month in the case of Anderson), who would have thought those guys would be playing together?

I like the style of play I've seen from Saints this year, getting the ball around the park, and Cunningham is very strong at dummy half.

Indeed. Remember the uproar when Saints sold Gleeson? (Not from me BTW, we saw how he really broke his hand last year )

Gleeson is a class player but £250,000 and Lyon for this year and next doesn't look like a bad piece of business now.

Vinnie Anderson has been outstanding. Though I had my heart in my mouth in the last minute against Bradford when he was running about with the ball "held" in one hand and looking for an offload  . I was in Germany at the time when we signed him and was very excited when word got through. It's an especially good signing when you consider he's virtually a replacement for Michael Smith

Saints have been playing some great football this year. Young Roby has really impressed me. He's slotted into the team and our style of playing well. And has been playing with a lot more composure than Long. Roby certainly doesn't look like the 18 year old.

Cunningham has been strong. I hope he can keep it going through the season and not pick up any injuries. With a contract up for grabs, hopefully this will be the case. When Higham's back that'll also be a boost to bring him on for when KC's tiring. Or we could even move him to prop/back row during spells.

Yeah, add in Mickey Higham, and you've got options all over. Vinnie Anderson is handy at centre or five-eighth as well if needed, but while your kid is doing OK there, then you look to have it all covered.

Whoever said Saints-Leeds grand final in another thread was probably spot on...

Hooper's returning soon so I imagine it'll bea battle between him and Roby for five eigth.

Wouldn't mind seeing Vinnie fill in the centres though when Lyon goes back to Aus for the birth of his kid and if Talau is still out. Looks like more of a centre than Gilmour is nowadays.

I'm not so sure. it looks likely but it's a long season with a lot of injuries. There's enough time for Bradford to sort themselves out. And Wigan could be dark horses. A Leeds-Saints Grand Final would be awesome though. Some of the battles and expansive football would be mouth watering.

& turn his back on Brian Smith? ;-) I think theres alot more to it then just wanting to leave the city life, since he left & went to England. Either way, another one bites the dust for Parra

LOL, I like when a persons team is critisized they automatically go on the defence "But your team.... *rabble rabble rabble*"

It doesn't take a genius to see it. He said he left to leave the city life. Next year, he's in England. So I wonder why he left? He felt like it?

It's obvious, he left Parra cause he didnt get along with a particular person at the club, not cause he was sick of city life. Why would he say that, and then go to Wee Waa and then want to play for Manly. He's in England for 2 years, the 2 years that was under contract at Parramatta. After he'll come back to Manly.

On the plus side his performances would help other youngsters in England.
