Ha

Yeah... as if they'd get nothing.

But if by some miracle that happens I'd be ok with it.

And on that note, lets say these blokes "donate" their money to an organisation set up like Warnies, etc.

The potential rort for this is beyond belief.

In uk testimonial seasons are usually offered to a player after ten years service at the club. The club supppirts various events during the year to give the player some cash, Ive never heard anyone complain about it in uk but then the money involved is t close to what we talking about here.

I could handle JT getting a testimonal but not Smith.

After the way that dick head carried on when McKinnon got hurt showed what a shit stain he is.
Agree....and the way Smith tried to further hurt Croker's already injured knee in last years prelim....RLPA rep be f**kd...he's a smarmy little turd

I just cannot comprehend remotely how anyone does not get this.

Have 17 games for them and blow them after the game if you like. But they should NOT get money for it.

Honestly I wouldn't even have a problem with their clubs shouting them a couple of hookers and some blow after the game. Give the merkins their testimonial, who gives a f**k? Just don't give them a cent of the money, or count it under the cap. Easy.

traditionally its a dinner not a game and its done at the end of a players last season as they retire.

But this is more about control than a testimonial for Smith and Thurston. Its about QLD RL saying look folks we do what ever we want and stuff the NRL.

Fmd ease up

Both clubs should have to finalise their caps. Then after the nrl audits both clubs the extra money goes to the players. As long as the money isn't being used to sign extra talent. This shit may by why the salary cap moving forward has been such a balls up. Both great players deserving of a send off if that's what it actually is but fmd they look like greedy merkins

I wonder (if there was no money involved )would they still play an `extra` trial match. you know, being already overworked and all

They don't to sell it out to make a shitload of cap exempt money.

The club or sponsors buy every ticket.

Give them away or resell for cheap.

Claim a sl out and give each player 750k each.

I put on my cheating Melbourne thinking cap to come up with that one.

Surely NRL need to postpone such a game to when they actually retire.

Either that or make it a club decision for players that reach ten years with the one club. I do think it should be reserved for the lower paid players though, not the millionaires who have already earnt a mint from the game.
