my favourite bands are:

Pennywise
Deviates (sound a little like pennywise, but with catchier tunes)
The Vandals (legends, mix of the 90s californian sound with pop punk)
Bad Religion
Ignite (a good mix of californian punk and hardcore)
Thrice (good blend of hardcore, emo and pop punk)
Guttermouth (pretty much like the vandals, but cruder)
H20 (New York Hardcore, watered down lol)
Anberlin (just an awesome band, cant describe them)
Hit the Lights (good if ur into pop punk)
Thursday (emo/hardcore)
Rise Against (punk rock with bits of hardcore thrown in)
Lagwagon (legendary 90s pop punk, meaning not as soft as current pop punk lol)
NOFX
No Use for a Name (look to Lagwagon)
Less Than Jake (mix of 90s pop punk and ska, top band)
Goldfinger (almost identical to less than jake lol)
AFI (you should know them. fun to explore there journey from punkers, to a screamo feel to the pop-emo they are doing now)
98 Mute (very much like pennywise, justin thirsk, jasons brother, is the drummer)
Dropkick Murphys
Blink 182
Face to Face (kick ass californian punk rock)
Scary Kids Scaring Kids (screaming melodies, awesome stuff)

Went to Lagwagons gig at the metro last year, it was f*ckin mad, Lyndsay from Frenzal played with em all show too, one of the best shows i've been to in years.

My fave bands would be:

NOFX
Lagwagon
Propaghandi
Frenzal
Bad Religion
Me first and the gimme gimmes
No use for a name
Pennywise

And i liked some of Millencollins earlier stuff too.

And the Porkers, that was more ska, but they played at heaps of punk gigs back in the day.

Edit: I saw someone metioned The Vandals, i can't believe i forgot them, they rock!

I am old school

Dead Kennedys
Black Flag
sex pistols
exploited
Killdozer
the circle jerks

Aussies
Lime spiders
the rocks
Hitmen
Radio Birdman
Hard Ons
Celebrite Rifles
Frenzal Rhomb ( one of the best - don't let the radio and tv stuff by members fool you)
and of course my old punk band of about 2 gigs "'The Jisms" .

Also Rose Tattoo had elements of Punk believe it or not.
They were an awesome band , should've been as big as acccadacca.
Never saw them live though as I am too young .

Well my favourite band is Frenzal Rhomb, by some margin. As Carch above said, ignore lindsay basically and his sh*t on the radio/tv and they are a damn fine band who have released some excellent albums (anything other than shut your mouth and sans souci really). I went and saw them on friday night at the Metro, absolutely packed house, such a good atmosphere to the gig. Seeing them again in a couple of weeks in the gong.

Other bands i like include

Older sh*t
- The Descendents - pretty much all modern skate/surf/pop punk owes these guys
- Dead Kennedys - brilliant band, especially fresh fruit for rotting vegetables, raw, powerful and meaningful
- Stiff Little Fingers
- The Damned
- The Clash - altho im not their biggest fan they have some undeniably great songs, especially complete control and guns of brixton
- Black Flag
- Minor Threat - altho the last two are more early hardcore

Newer stuff
- Bad Religion - arguably the most important punk band of all time, second favourite band after Frenzal and brilliant lyrically and musically
- NOFX - still a pretty good bad, at their peak from ribbed - so long and thanks for all the shoes
- Pennywise - Used to love these guys, got over them a bit to be honest, thye havent released a good album since straight ahead and their best stuff was earlier than that
- Rancid - very hit and miss, and out come the wolves was brilliant and earlier stuff very good, life wont wait sucked and invincible wa spretty sh*t as well
- Strung Out - complex, good lyrics, great band IMO
- Propagandhi - f**kin brilliant band, saw them earlier this year in Wollongong

Aussie Stuff
- The Meanies - love this band, havent got enough of their stuff but they are very good
- Nancy Vandal - saw them supporting frenzal the other night, hilarious
- The Saints - where it all began
- Bodyjar - veteran melbourne band, pretty good for some light hearted tunes
- Hard-ons - another good sydney band
Short Fast Loud also has alot of good aussie punk stuff every week

Ska/celtic punk
- Dropkick Murphys - one of my favourite band and one of the best live bands around
- Less Than Jake
Reel Big Fish etc

I must say I am laughing my arse off at blink 182.

Imagine what Hank or Jello think of them.

I think some of Blinks material stands up pretty well along side the bands mentioned.

Cheshire Cat and Dude Ranch are great IMO. The rest are not so good but still decent.

They are very good at what they do/did, people just don't like to admit it.
