Listened to first half of new Deftones (Koi No Yokan) on the way to work this morning, me likey!
Also been absorbing NZ band Decortica's latest '11811' (listen online at
http://music.decortica.com/) before seeing them live again here in Wellington on 23/11 with other uber-talented Kiwi band Cairo Knife Fight (their latest single can be listened to at
http://soundcloud.com/cairo-knife-fight/numb-distraction).
Seen both these guys live before (CKF 3 times now), and they are hands down the best local live acts I've seen in my 12-odd years of going to live rock gigs.
Decortica is kinda like Deftones with a more melodic singer (gets high notes similar to Incubus' Brandon, but has some Chino-style screeches as well).
CKF are masters of the loop pedal, pack a helluva punch for a two man band the way the just add layers (on guitar, drums and bass synth), watching them producing the songs live is like a work of art!
