Shit day at work today so put some CD's on shuffle at different times at home.

Firstly put on Kate Ceberano's Nine Lime wire Ave and 1927's Ish

Then after that Kate Ceberano's So Much Beauty and ABBA's Voyage.

Had the nice calming effect needed.

I still use my crappy little IPOD to play at work and it only has a capacity for around 1,000 songs. If I Could is the only 1927 song i have on it currently.

Had not listened to Ish for so long so decided to play the whole album, had really forgotten what a great album it is.

Lately it's been a huge 'Built to Spill' binge for me... loving that Neil Young-esque weary, bedraggled, half-way between waking & sleeping, ever so slightly stoned vibe.

Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus.
Got it on vinyl, some of the nicest packaging I’ve ever seen, and a totally killer album.

Stampede - Orville Peck. What a great album.

Midnight Ride the duet with Kylie is so sultry alluring and sexy and the cover of Rhinestone Cowboy with Waylon Payne. T J Osborne and Fancy Hagood is so good without derailing the feel of the Glen Campbell version. Saturday Nights ( all right for fighting ) duet with Elton is good to and the duet with Beck, Death Valley High is another stand out.

I bought his albums last year. He did a couple of songs a few years back I saw clips on RAGE. He’s just got something and I like it.

I had seen a few interviews with him especially about his Rodeo where he brings in up and coming artists in country music, so refreshing to have someone like him on the music scene.

Didn't realise he performed at SydFest in 2020 just before Covid hit and also at the Enmore Theatre in 2022, would have liked to see him live, He is doing a festival in Wollongong this March but no other dates for anywhere else in Australia yet.

I just got a CD of an LP I used to have back in the 80s and I've been loving caching up with it after all these years . It's Carlos Santana Blues For Salvador. The whole album is outstanding but one track in particular is sublime. It's called Trane and if you get a chance listen to it on Youtube. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

ELO are seen as something of a guilty pleasure by music snobs. There's a mortifying vignette where a would-be culture-vulture has strains of strings running through his head. Thinks to himself "What's that? Bach? Brahms? Mozart?". It's the mark of a true philistine when it dawns on you it's a track by ELO.

Rock critics charge them with cribbing a whole career from "I Am The Walrus".

There used to be several record shops in Manchester Arndale. The biggest was open-plan and on a corner which meant their sound system boomed out through the passageways. I was walking along one Saturday morning in 1979 and they were playing "Don't Bring Me Down" loud as hell. Stopped me in my tracks. Sounded fantastic.

I’ve been listening to the new Wombats album. Always fun.

Catching up on some older artists too :

Big Audio Dynamite II - The Globe
Franco Battiato - couple of early 80s synth pop albums
Some Ultravox, Moby and Guns N Roses too.
