Couple assaulted after Origin fan urinates on yard

A husband and wife were punched in the face after Wednesday night’s State of Origin game when they got into an argument with a man who was urinating on their lawn.

Police said four men were walking along Clifton Street in Petrie Terrace, about 200 metres from Suncorp Stadium, when a man wearing a maroon Queensland t-shirt walked onto a property and started to relieve himself.

A 50-year-old resident came out of the home and tried to get the man off his property, but the man punched him in the face.

Police said the other three men then started attacking the resident on the road. Shortly after, his 52-year-old wife came out of the house wielding a broom.

Police said the first offender then returned to the property four times to try and instigate a fight. On the final occasion he pushed the woman against a parked car and punched her in the face.

The group of men then fled the scene.

The male victim was taken to hospital with facial injuries, and his wife was treated at the house.

Police said the main offender is described as in his early 20s, about 182 centimetres tall with a solid build and brown spiky hair.

Investigators have called for anyone who can identify the group to contact police.

Queensland Police Inspector Peter Aitken said investigators would look at security footage to try and identify the group.

"It’s a very unfortunate situation. There’s a large group of people [at the game], but only a very small number have resorted to such poor behaviour," he said.

Earlier, Inspector Aitken told 612 ABC Radio there had been a number of cases of people urinating on properties near the stadium on Wednesday night.

However he said revellers on Caxton Street and in the city were generally well behaved, and nearly everyone was home by 12.30am.

In all seriousness as a bloke if another bloke is pissing on your lawn after a game of footy who gives a toss . Deserves a punch in the face IMO .

Old bastard was probably worried they'd steal his coke bottles filled with water .

I'd be pissed if someone pissed on my lawn especially after how much it cost to lay down my turf!

QLDer's live in a toilet, therefore it stands to reason they don't know the difference between a front yard and a shithole.

Chook.

f**k lawns, seats, hallways, shoes or even toilets. Sydney-siders prefer to desecrate WAR MEMORIALS.

A 25 year-old man was charged by Sydney police today after he was caught urinating on the Anzac War Memorial in Hyde Park. Security guards from Red Dawn – a security company outsourced by the memorial – saw the man defacing the sacred sight at around 1.30am.
They held the man at the monument while police from City Central LAC made their way to Hyde Park where they issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for offensive behaviour.
"It’s fantastic work by the security guards," said Don Rowe – State President of the RSL. "That is absolutely disgusting behaviour and completely disrespectful to the men and women who made that sacrifice."
The Anzac Memorial was built in 1934 as a tribute to the diggers of WWI, it is the principal war monument in NSW.
"It’s very significant indeed," said Rowe.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the man will face court in the coming months where he faces fines of up to $660 or three months in prison.

A FEMALE police officer who urinated on a Sydney war memorial has escaped a conviction, despite a magistrate describing the offence as "vile and despicable". Jessica Mary Lodge, a 29-year-old constable based at Redfern police station in the inner city, pleaded guilty at Downing Centre Local Court to urinating on the steps of the Anzac War Memorial in Hyde Park, in the city's CBD, last month.
Magistrate Jane Culver, who described the offence as "vile and despicable", did not record a conviction against Lodge, but placed her on a 12-month good behaviour bond.
According to court documents, about 10.30pm on June 16, a security guard saw Lodge pull down her jeans and squat on the war memorial steps before urinating.
When the guard informed her she was under arrest, Lodge tried to leave the scene, saying: "I'm a police officer, just let me go, this will affect my career."
Police arrived soon after to question the off-duty officer, who apologised and said she had been at a "half-yearly" function and just "needed to go to the toilet".
An officer who attended the scene said Lodge appeared "moderately intoxicated", the police fact sheet tendered to the court said.
She was allowed to leave and the incident, which was captured on CCTV footage, was reported.
Lodge's lawyer, Patrick Conaghan, told the magistrate his client was unaware the Hyde Park structure was a war memorial.
He also said her father had served in WWII.
Lodge had been charged with committing an offensive act.

There's a good chance the same 4 blokes will be walking down the same street at the same time after SOO III in 6 weeks time. Time for that couple to put up an electric fence. Try using that as a toilet you QLD grubs!
