at the time of the signing i believe that Noddy was playing for Hunter, Franze and Bird were stuck behind players like the Giddley's so they really had no choice but to go else where

and jobson knows a sinking ship when he see's one, once johns is gone so is newcastle

This is the most idiotic thread I have read, thus far.

You seem to disregard the efforts by other clubs in developing players that have left their junior clubs but instead credit the local junior team instead for the players success.

NKH, before you start posting stuff do your research. Im not having a go but people pick up on stuff and make you look silly eg Raider_69 picking up on Noddy.

Fact is yes we wanted Noddy, but he new that he was never gonna be number one with Joey in the team so he went and signed with the Hunter Mariners and Super League. Now lets never speak of that wretched League and team ever again.

Centre Shannon Hegarty said the only two locals in the team were Luke Ricketson and Ryan Cross.

"Most of us aren't from the eastern suburbs anyway," Hegarty said.

"It just brushes off. You can't do much about it."

Born in the working-class, coal-mining area of Maitland in the NSW Hunter Valley, Brett Finch said most of the players laughed at the latte tag.

"Few of us drink drink tea or coffee - we're all hot chocolate boys," he said.

It amazes me how people continually bring up the juniors argument. Is it too difficult for people to understand that most young families can only afford to live in the outskirts of a city. This is why areas like Penrith will always have more juniors than inner city areas. Do you really think a young family can afford a $2 million house in Vaucluse? You people are so thick sometimes.

One day you will all get your wish and a teams strength will be determined by the strength of their juniors and I am sure you will all enjoy watching the Warriors and the Broncos in the grand final every single year.

I have to agree with Dice. I used to live in Vaucluse and no one really plays league there. They're mostly union or soccer boys.
