I can see the points FOR a draft but im against it. The object of the game of league is to win titles. TO win a title you first need a good coach, someone with the experience and knowhow. After that you need sponsorship, plenty of sponsorship means money ant that means you'll be competitive in a player market.
Basically i dont think we need a draft because a club who makes the right decisions and appoints the right people. IF a club struggles with performance, perhaps they should look at who's in charge of the team,2 examples...........:
1)Manly- Had a decent side last year and bottom line is shouldve done etter. SO they decided not renew coach Sharp's contract, in 2004 we'll see if the right coach is in place.
2) Wests Tigers- Have Failed miserably but over the last 2-3 seasons have made some big calls for which the rewards are begining to be seen. They decided the best way to become a better club was to develop a youth policy. Now we are begining to see the benefits of it. The other big call they made was recuiting an experienced coach in Tim Sheens.
If people wanna argue these points fair enough, but i believe the answer to sucess lies in the club itself:
1) focus on youth
2)appointing the right coach for the right situation.
