Upon the release of their acclaimed début album Is This It in 2001, many critics hyped the group as the "saviors of rock" for their stripped down sound heavily influenced by bands such as Velvet Underground and Television. band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and his brother, lead guitarist Angus Young. The band has sold over 150 million albums worldwide and over 68 million albums in the United States[1], making them one of the most successful hard rock acts ever. Their 1980 album Back in Black has sold 42 million units worldwide (21 million in the US alone)[2] and is the second highest selling album of all time and the biggest selling album by any band. In its recording career, the band has had two distinctive lead singers, and fans tend to divide its history into the 'Bon Scott era' (1974-80), and the 'Brian Johnson era' (1980-present).

Although the group is generally considered to be a pioneer of Hard rock and Heavy metal music (they are ranked number 4 on VH1's '100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock')[3], the members have always referred to their music as Rock 'n' roll.

Overall, AC/DC are the most successful and well-known band to originate from Australia. In 2005 the band finished second in a list of highest-earning entertainers from Australia – trailing only The Wiggles – despite neither releasing an album nor touring that year.[4]

Radiohead are a five-piece band from Oxfordshire, England. Though often classified as alternative rock, they have been influenced by a variety of musical genres.[1][2]Radiohead are often praised as one of the most creative bands of their era, known for their multilayered songs and artistic evolution from album to album.[3] They are seen by some to have maintained a spirit of musical and political independence[4][5] despite recording for EMI, a major label. The band is currently operating without a record deal, touring and playing new songs which may become part of their next album.

One of the most successful and iconic bands from the original wave of punk rock in the late 1970s, they went on to incorporate punk with reggae, rockabilly, dance, jazz, ska, hip hop, and eventually many other music styles into their repertoire. They were legendary for their uncommonly intense stage performances.

Their own material is written in German, whilst the traditional songs are in a variety of languages, including (but not limited to) Spanish, English, Norwegian, Swedish, Icelandic, French, Latin and medieval German.
