What frustrates you most.

what frustrates me most is that we have one of the best centres in the world and he is playing a "roving" role. Gaz should be playing at centre end of story. Everything will fall into place as long as Brown sticks to playing the boys in the right positions. For Gaz to play that role the team has to go into a major re-shuffle which the are finding hard to cope with.

but on another note....i think alot of us are forgetting that last night we were with out ryles, poore, creagh and morris... we would have tore the tigers a new arsehole if they were playing. we also lost woolford in the first half and that didnt help matter either. the tigers are a decent team aswell, farah, marshall, payeten, lawrence, halatau, are all very good players and are coached by a very accomplished coach. Im sure the tone of our posts would be alot different had we won last night. the season is not over and we can still shake things up in the semis.... anyway im cursing as much as you guys. im off to have a sh*t weekend...

Finally. WE ARE A TEAM OF GREAT PLAYERS. Yes thats right. I believe the current team can win a GF. Our problem is we are not a a GREAT TEAM. The players are awesome individualy, BUT FFS you cant win the GF as individuals. We need to play as a team.

Anyway.what frustrates you guys most.

I don't agree with this. We have a team with very good players in it, but not a team with great players in it. The JV sides a few years back (probably at its peak in 2005) were definitely examples of what you're talking about though. I think if anything we are playing more as a team than we have ever done. It's just that our players aren't as a high a standard as the ones we have had. I would *almost* go as far as saying we have grossly overachieved this season.

I know he got bagged a lot but i think the last two years have shown just how good Trent Barrett was, and the hole he has left in our team.

Watching how clueless we are in attack when we are 20m out.

That is frustrating.

Poor discipline also really grinds my gears.

When have the mindset to pile consecutive sets on the opposition and put the pressure on them, it makes a huge difference.

I've never thought we were going to go that deep in the finals. Just trying to get some positives to take into next year.

Would not bother me in the slightest if Gaz did not play again in the famous Red V.

From the outside looking in

Last night your halves were very average. I feel sorry for Hornby, someone who was a very solid fullback moved because of heads injuries and now is almost a no where man, he isnt a halfback yet he struggles at fullback now. Should never have been moved.
Soward still doesnt show much, apart from an ok kicking game.

The lack of discipline is still present at the club, which is IMO something you can look forward to improving once Brownie and Mcgregor etc are moved on.

The lack of a hooker is also reasonably obvious.

Dean Young clearly is not a dummy half, he's a backrower.

Finally, the dragons play too much up the middle and far too flat in attack. Last night the Tigers you could see had some depth, despite not using it near enough.

I don't agree. We have a great five eighth in Jamie Soward.

I have nothing against Barrett but the facts are that he was often sidelined with some injury and never reached his full potential.

Good luck to him but pound-for-pound I'll take Soward over Barrett any day.

The salary cap, it has evened up the comp, however it makes it impossible for some clubs to keep players that have been targeted and developed for the good of that club.
Has the Salary Cap evened the comp? Last I saw Melbourne were dominating the comp and have been doing it for a few years. They are miles ahead fo the rest yet they have the least supporters and no junior developement.

If teh Salary cap was evening out the comp you would not have a team dominate for so many years.

So true. Our halves and especially out attack has been terrible since Baz left. The struggle to score tries. Why they did not get him back beats me.

If they lose the next few, they should give the Kennedy boys a run in 1st grade. THey look pretty OK in U/20's

I can't stand it how Brown contstantly screws around with our backline. I seem to recall him promising Chase and Soward the 5/8th and 1/2 position for an extended period of time, only to renig the following week. I believe we really struggle for creativity when in attack. This is the line-up I'd be looking at for next week:

1. Hornby - best fullback and support player in the team
2. B Morris
3. J Morris - I'd drop Gaz, his heart is in the right place, but his head is elsewhere.
4. Cooper
5. Nightingale
6. Rogers - apparently this guy is killing it in park football
7. Soward
8. Hunt (Poore)
9. Woolford
10. Prior (Ryles)
11. Scott
12. Young
13. Setu

14. Fepulaui - Could add something comming out of dummy half, when the opposition are tiring.
15. Thorby
16. Merrin - Why not? We aren't going to win the comp. Time to blood some youth I say.
17. Saffy
18. Mundine - I wish he'd hurry up and get fit already

Chunky Choc really does need to lose some of the pies from his house if he wants to play lock at 1st Grade level. Same goes for Fepulaui, touch on the Riddell side of a hooker. one guy I'd like to see have a crack at the top grade before the season is out is Rory O'Brien. Good young prop in President's Cup deserves a shot, particularly since our two starting props are out for a while.

It would be nice to have a Reserve Grade side, then we could give these highlighted players a run against bigger + uglier opposition rather than playing in the IRL/Metro Cup/Qld Cup. For the guys in President's Cup, stepping up into a Reserve Grade side can show what they will be like against stronger + older + smarter opposition.

I don't agree with any of the bolded players with the possible exception of Fepuleui.

Soward cannot be moved from five eighth, its where he has produced his best form all year and he has been terrible from halfback. No matter how good he is going at club footy, Rogers simply can't get a look in at five eighth while Soward is playing. I like Hornby at halfback but he is our best option at halfback for the time being; Kennedy isn't good enough and he complements Soward well anyway.

Mundine and Merrin are not better than the current options we have (although they will be eventually of course) so I don't see the point in blooding them particularly when we are still in finals contention. I wouldn't mind seeing Fepuluei though.

thats funny i thought the penalty count was 10-8 dragons, i must have seen it wrong let me check again.........hmm still 10-8 dragons.....must be a mis print

Did you deduct the 4 penalties given away by your f**ks for standing offside with a minute to go? I didnt think so - you dont know how to add up, typical of a west tigers supporter!
