What happens when King comes back next week

Dustin Cooper is all class as is King, both should be playing on the wings. Would bellamy put matt geyer finally in 5/8 and hill at lock, or is King going to be on the bench and him and cooper going to have to fight each week for the spot. Personally id love to see them both on the wing, be a bit like lewis and rooney, two young class wingers. Who knows, in 2 years time they may both be playing origin.

Its quite simple really. Ben MacDougall  Out

Matt King into the centres. I'm pretty sure Bellamy won't see it that way though.

Good call, although I can't see it happening. I think King may need some more match fitness so Belly might send him to play with Norths Devils for a while. But have you noticed that there never are any outside backs on the reserves bench? Solution; King, MacDougall or Cooper on the bench.

Can't see that happening honestly. Yes Ox and Geyer have a good combination but I would only put Hill at lock if it meant partnering Kidwell and Kearney in the 2nd row. It might be an okay move coz i know Kirks playing there and he doesn't seem to be at his best (he dropped alot of ball at the last home game vs Wests).

Why should Cooper be dropped when its quite obvious he has a future at the club. Where as Ben MacDougall does not.

Because he isn't young. Earl wants to see all old players moved on so we can have a side made up entirely of U/23 year olds. MacDougall has been really good this year when he hasn't been laying a couple of silly high tackles. Earl, you were against him from day 1 for some reason and your criticism of him is unfair and unwarranted.

FWIW, Coops will make way. Hopefully he retains a spot on the bench.

When we signed Puppy, I thought it was a disgraceful decision, but he has been great this year and really earned his spot in the centres

I'll be the first to admit I didn't think he was a good signing. And again to be the first to admit he has been great for the club this year. But when it comes down to it, players like Jake Webster, Cooper Cronk, Michael Crockett, Steve Turner and the like need to be given a shot at first grade or they are going to go to another club in search of that.

Players like Steve Turner, who is the current Junior Kangaroos fullback, only very young, has a chance to make a big name for himself at Melbourne. Would you like to see him miss out on that oppurtunity for one Ben MacDougall?

I'd say King won't be back for Round 17.

But when he is fit and back in the side I say Dustin Cooper and Matt King on the wings, centres unchanged, Geyer at 5/8 and Hill at lock.

I would not look at changing the backline until after the Warriors game..if the boys fire then the side should not be changed even if Matt King is back.

Dustin Cooper has been playing well and is learning the game. Matt King is a little more reliable and skilful but there is not much between the two.

Dunno about "great" but he has earned his spot. It is up to someone else to play some great RL to displace him

I am in fair to give King some time up in Brisbane (like a week0 to get himself match fit and with some confidence under his belt.

So much for that theory...Kingys a freak! And to those who doubt 'Mad Pup' MacDougall I hope you are choking on your words! What a champ!

It's one thing to get excited about young players - believe me, we've all been there. But it's another thing to have a team full of them. No matter how much talent they have, you need the old heads to guide them and advance them when the going gets tough.

While I don't necessarily disagree with much you said, a lot of those players you named will get their chance. Their time will come, either that or they won't ever amount to anything.

Atm, MacDougall is 100% deserving of his starting guernsey and his performance tonight certified that. Barring injury or suspension, he won't lose his no.4 jumper for the rest of the year.

I'm not saying fill the team with them. I'm justing warning everyone that if these players go to other clubs through the lack of first grade exposure at Melbourne, then we will live to regret it.

I can't see MacDougall getting dropped either.

It's as inevitable as sunrise that we won't be able to keep them all. Luke Dyer leaving is a prime example of that. Mick Russo, Mitch Sargent and Junior Langi were all youngsters at the Storm who moved on and have done near bugger all at their new homes.

This time next year will be very interesting when we have the likes of Ox, Kearns, Chan, MacDougall, King, Slater and co all coming off contracts.
