What has happened to Gillet?

Fair dinkum, he cost us 3 tries today with his terrible defence. He came up with pathetic arm grabs multiple times, then the most blatent when he didn't move off the line with Thaiday, which let Fa'oso stroll over for an easy try.

He's been dreadful the last few weeks. What to do with him?

I don't think it is a new thing, he has always been a little suspect in defensive reads.

He has been going pretty bad for the last month or so. He is not alone in that I suppose... Looks a bit dis-interested for one reason or another. Shouldn't be playing origin imo, he will tho.

Lean period, it won't last the whole year, and as long as he is firing at the right end of the year

Punch him in the face......??

I'm not going to argue with what you're saying. I was thinking some very colourful things about him myself today while watching.

Let's show some faith. He's too talented not to come good. The whole teams defensive efforts over the last few weeks has been disgraceful.

The real question is, what is Hook going to do about that.....???

Don't know about lean period, thought he was one of our best against Melbourne and he wasn't THAT bad against Manly, just mixed. Good attack, shabby out of position defence.

He's always had these defensive deficiencies. It's a combination of poor reads & a suspect technique. He can fix it but it'll take time.

I think he is still coping with fatigue being new to 80 min 1st grade?
He played 57 mins...

Yeasterday was the only time I've seen him play badly (despite the Manly clangers). This time he was caught napping twice in the ruck area, and had the bad luck it resulted in 2 tries against us. Thaiday had a hand in as well, as well as the markers in the Boyd line break, but the Fa'aoso try was simply U-12's stuff...

I could be wrong but I just don't feel like he has been as damaging with his carries either.

His carries are weak. I can't remember a time in the last few weeks, where he's hit the line with pace. All his carries are getting the ball flat footed, then trying a jumping step to get through the line, and he's getting handled easily.

And he is trying that little flick back a lot. Sure, the first two he has done have gone to hand, but soon they are going to start missing and shooting out the back - could result in tries!

But, he was given a licence to do this stuff from Hook. I just want him to pick up his defensive act.
