What if the salary cap had been set sooner....

If the cap had been set sooner what different things would we have seen for 2013?

Would T'eo and Beale still be at the Bronco's?
Would T-Rex still be at Manly?
Would Hornby and Hindy pushed through for one more season?
Would the Tigers still have Ryan and Heinington?
Would Canterbury have signed everyone?

What clubs have been screwed and who has got a good deal out of this? The Roosters have done well because they got space for Jennings and $BW. Manly were on the cap limit and had to shed some players but once the cap was raised they fit Brett Stewart in and probably have space left over.

The Bronco's and Tigers might have got the raw deal.

Te'o wasn't really a surprise as the bloke is a mercenary, Beale left because he wanted to be a starting fullback for another club.

wish we kept beale and lost hoffman... beale was going well for us at the back in 2011 until "the knee" happened...

Not even vaguely. We wanted to keep Te'o (and of the pair, him more than Beale), but the problem is that the team was massively overstocked on back-rowers. It was enough trouble trying to squeeze the players available into the 17 each week, never mind juggle contract negotiations for the next three years or so.

Te'o deserved more than we could pay him, which he may have accepted if there was a garaunteed back-row slot for him open, and with Glenn, Gillett and a host of others breathing down his neck we couldn't even offer that.

Having some more money to splash around may have helped retain one or the other, but we still had too many back-rowers and winger/fullbacks any way.

Canterbury could have signed everyone either way, too. Plenty of room in the current cap.....
