if Opes is sacked tonight and tries to squeeze compo out of the club for this year, what happens if we make the top 8 this year? can he legally claim compo for the last 2 years of his contract?

i really have no idea about it and was just wondering

managers can claim money from future contracts so could Ando do the same?

I believe $1.2m is the payout figure. So how about opening your cheque book, Blacktip, and save us all a lot of misery. How are we gonna afford it? Up club fees? Up admission prices? Increase beer prices? Sell hot dogs? Or one you'll like, Blacktip - sell Kimmorley and Bailey to the highest bidder - that'll just about pay for it.
The board should be bloodywell ashamed of themselves for letting the issue get this far and making us the laughing stock of the Rugby League world. I just hope that an agreement is reached that does not negatively effect the club and the fans. I believe that integrity would allow Anderson to maintain the position until the end of his contract.

What if they negotiate that he leaves at the end of next year, regardless.

I do believe this is the compromise position actually.

"Waive your option Ando and we'll let you see out 2004"

This is what I'd like to see anyway.

He can whether the team makes the 8 or not. I assume what his legal people will argue is that by being sacked he has been given no chance to exercise his option and therefore has a loss of potential earnings.

The Sharks have stuffed this up royally IMO.

Well this was my greatest fears & I am gladneither party was smart enough to see it.
But then again, why work when you get the same cash for going to the beach?
typical of the hypocrite.

You are kidding Reefy. In another thread you say you see no negative ramifications, yet in this one you say your greatest fears are met. You a contradicting yourself.

Frenzy, if you're right and Ando waive's his option and coaches out 2004, all the potential problems disappear. You sure you don't want to run for the board?

look ozzie osbourne, I haven't contradicted myself anywhere.
my greatest fear was that he would be here next year.
Frenzy agreed with my opinion that a sensible outcome on face value, that would work, would be for him to coach out 2004 then f**k off regardless.
that however would not have appeased the person that it matters most to & matters most, to us. well, the sensible ones amongst us anyhow.
