Nicho looks like he doesn’t know what his role is. When he played well, he was the leader of the team. Trindall wasn’t playing. Go back and watch the first 10 rounds of last year. He killed it. Got himself an origin jersey. Got crucified, got injured and has come back with trindall and looks totally lost and low on confidence. Every week, I’m waiting for him to have that breakout game and get his confidence back. I feel like he can rediscover his form, but not with the way it is at the moment. Just bite the bullet and put trindall at 7 and Hynes at 6 and let him roam both sides. At the moment, they are both trying to be the main man, and then when the going gets tough, they both don’t know who’s job it is to step up.

Fullback!
Kennedy is good at what he does but if we want to win a comp we need an X factor in attack.
Our attack becomes easy to defend without the added threat floating around.
The good teams push of their line fast in defence and our half’s struggle with limited options.

The only issue with that is who do you put at 6?
And please don't say Atkinson.
You'll get me started...

That’s the problem if we do put someone else there it’s going to be a massive gamble and currently we don’t have a better option.

I know I’ll get killed but if u want to gamble Ronnie at 1 would bring a shit ton of involvements and big kick returns.
He would be out of place defensively and make some horrible decisions but he would be put his body on the line.

Agreed.
For the time being, we're stuck with it.

I'm not completely out of hope. Nicho killed it early last year, and has won a Dally M.
He clearly has the talent. If only he can sort out what goes on between his ears I'm still hopeful he and Tricky can create a formidable partnership.

This has been tossed up a few times.
If we didn't have Ison and Dykes coming through I'd be willing to give it a crack.
But I'm reluctant to try it as, long term, it will hold those guys back.
Not to mention with the injury to TFF we are short on wingers.
Kristian Dixon and Eli Clarke have promise, but are a good few years away yet IMHO.

Fingers crossed Dykes is over his injury worries and come the latter part of the season is starting to push for firsts.

Both spot on

Hynes had his Dally M year with Moyza at 5/8.
Why? because the team was his to be in control of and Moyza was the running partner.
Tricky is not that type of player, he is an organiser, and Hynes was training up for that very role, and doing it well.
For the teams sake this has to be sorted by the Coach. Both of them can organise a team, but one of them is better at running.
Make the call, Fitzy.

I read something, last week I think it was, where Fitz said he was quite happy for them both to do their thing at different times (or something to that effect). I think this is detrimental to both players in the long term. ONE of them needs to be running the show, not both whenever they feel like it.

If I was the coach I'd be asking Nicho to be the spotlight sponge for the team. Tell him to lean into the press, talk about getting back into the Origin arena, Dally M contention etc. Every column inch written on him is one less written about Nikora, or Kennedy or Trindall. His new role is to take the pressure off everyone else.

Let him know he can say whatever he wants, talk as much shit as he wants and the journos can write whatever they want but every time he sees his name in the paper he's doing the rest of the team a solid. Tell him everyone at the club knows his role and what his capable of.

He's going to be written about ad nauseum anyway, might as well get him to lean into it and make a strength out of a weakness.

This squad has needed freshening for about 3 seasons, instead we've recruited 1 good prop and basically stood around letting everyone else play catch up. I'm actually amazed we didn't fall off the perch last season.

I said something like this last year and that, if we don't, we are a danger of following in Parra's footsteps.

I have no confidence we are not already heading in that direction.
