What is the problem

We have a young team, and that brings inconsistency.

Blokes like Semi, Kenny Edwards, Junior and Pauli Pauli aren't used to playing a full season of NRL Firsy Grade, and while we are "suffering" now, we will be better off in the future because of the experience they are getting now.

I wonder how far Luke Kelly is from getting a call back to First Grade - he's no star, but he usually takes the right options and is a team player. I love watching Sandow play - he's so talented - but there's only so many times you can watch your halfback put in a woeful chip kick, or run the ball on the last and die with the ball, before you think enough is enough.

And if not Kelly, Docker-Clay. He's little, but I like how he plays.
i like most of what you wrote. the exception being the Luke Kelly thing. I don't think he takes right options, more that he takes basic predictable options that often don't yield an attacking advantage. he seems to have a very limited and basic understanding of what a player in 6,7 or 9 should have at that level. that said, I think he's better than premiership winning #7, Shane perry ever was.

Execution was shite, the winning try came off another one of our inept goal line attacking raids. Hayne looks flat. Desperately need to upgrade sef and get an experienced hard nut 2nd rower

I think we should try a different tactic of essentially playing Sandow as a running player. Get rid of Paulo and put Kelly in to be the general half back. So in essence play two full backs (Sandow and Hayne) who can just roam around and fill in and create havoc. I'm sure Kelly could also defend better than Paulo.

The major issue with Seffa is on the defensive side if the ball. He is very active, but not very effective.

If we replace him this season, it should be with a bruiser, not a finesse player. The problem with replacing him is that he is in the 17 to cover all positions, allowing us to play 4 forwards on the bench.

I suspect Matterson will replace Sandow when the latter comes off contract.

Norman left side with Matterson on the right. One of them can wear 7 and the other can wear 6. Next year Matterson might come off the bench or even start in the back row, but I'm sure he will at least start the year in Wenty.

Norman does more of the 'organising' than Sandow anyway, so not like we would lose out on that front.

My problem is once again it was the younger inexperienced players leading the way, Junior, Pauli Pauli and Edwards were the only forwards who had a go, our halves were abysmal and the less said about Sef and Morgan the better.

Lussick and Allgood have added very little this year and I would be trying to move one or both of them on. Gower has offered us plenty more at a fraction of the cost.

I thought the effort was outstanding but the execution was terrible. Too many times we got tackled on the last tackle or put in a terrible kick. Being a young team hopefully they learn from this and want to be better

the problem is Sandows decision making. those short chips were low percentage plays. and he did them many times.

of he learning to play a or percentage game then we would be better off.

hayne should be telling the team what strategy to play at certain parts of the game. he's the fullback he has vision and he is the captain

we also need a forward leader when mannah is of f

someone who will lead

Sandow was ridiculous yesterday, running the ball to the line at 100 miles an hour on the last tackle then trying to make a decision. He just has zero composure and it rubs off on the rest of the team

but that's where the captain has to come in. just like Galen on Reynolds in soo. Haynes has to tell him to stop that

I reckon it was done on coach's instructions.

Otherwise the coach would have hooked him or hayne or norman would have started overcalling him.

The other problem with the game plan yesterday is that it didn't really give jarryd enough involvement imo

Agree 100% with this. The sooner we get rid of Lussick and Allgood and Sef Paulo the better.

I thought Edwards and Pauli were great yesterday.

He got hammered yesterday for sure, but in fairness he has made a lot of breaks in the past by running at the line like that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Can't win them all.

My biggest disappointment with the game yesterday was our last tackle kicks. We seriously were kicking and just hoping for the best. Our chasing of short kicks was non-existent.

one of sandow's flaws is that he gets caught up playing like a school kid trying to prove himself and stuffs around at times I think. it's like when he would charge at big guys to put a big shoulder charge on then stand there laughing like an idiot because he got one after about 8 or so attempts. he has ability but seems to lose focus on what's at stake sometimes.
