What Is You Perfect Draw??

Ok, judging by the response to some of the shittier crowds these weekend, the current draw is not what it could be. Obviously this is down to Nine picking teams and times, but let's play "what if". So....

Imagine you were in charge of the next TV deal. Its entirely up to you to choose timeslots for each team. When would you schedule the 8/9 games over the weekend and when are the premium times for any given teams stadium??? (For example; 1 Sunday timeslot that is always played at ANZ to get people into a rhythm of attending)

So, what do you think? What is your perfect draw??

Friday, 7.30pm (live on fta)
Saturday, 3.30pm (live on fox)
Saturday, 5.30pm (live on fox)
Saturday, 7.30pm (live on fox)
Sunday, 2.00pm (live on fox)
Sunday, 2.00pm (viewers choice game)
Sunday, 4.00pm (live on fta)
Sunday, 6.30pm (live on fta)
Monday, 7.00pm (live on fox)

Would look at having Perth playing Arvo games there against big Sydney teams for the Sunday night game (or possibly even rotating with a 2nd Friday game).

Teams such as panthers, cowboys, knights, sharks, titans to get plenty of sat night games where I think they draw better crowds. Raiders on Sunday for obvious reasons with the weather.
A blockbuster Sydney game every Sunday at ANZ. Maybe the 2pm game that isn't live on fta to maximize crowds?? This should be between souths, dogs, tigers, dragons, eels etc.

Would agree with this. I like the consecutive games as they leave room for double headers at the one stadium.

Friday, 7.30pm (live on 9, in HD)
Saturday, 3.30pm (live on FOX)
Saturday, 5.30pm (live on FOX)
Saturday 7.30pm (live on 9, in HD)
Sunday, 12.00 pm (live on FOX)
Sunday, 3.00pm (live on 9, in HD)
Sunday, 5.00pm (live on FOX)
Sunday, 7.00pm (live on FOX)

Scrap games on monday nights. The odd Thursday game is fine, but it should kick off at 7pm IMO. Channel 9 should be broadcasting in HD, or the rights go elsewhere even if it's for less. Every game should also be aired live, none of this delayed with an hours worth of ads crammed in bullshit.

No Thursday night games; impacts on crowds.

Variety to Brisbane Broncos draw where they are NOT playing Friday night games more often than not.

People seem to be concentrating on a draw that suits there TV watching habits, not maximizing crowd attendance.

Why for example would 2 Friday night games in separate states be an issue for crowds?

Once NZ has a 2nd team the 2nd 2pm Sunday game would be a 12pm start so you'd get 4 Sunday games (3 afternoon games in one day on a Sunday and Gus will blow his load especially if they were all played at Leichhardt)

Originally the whole point of a Friday night game was that it was match of the round. 2 games kinda kills that and detracts from the importance of each.

Friday 7:30pm (Nine)
Saturday 3 / 5:30 (Both Fox) / 7:30 (Nine)
Sunday 2 (Fox) / 4 (Nine) / 6:30 (Fox)
Monday 7 (Fox)

If we get an extra team, put on an extra Sunday arvo game at 2.

Ideally I prefer no concurrent games.

Don't know what times I would have the games on....but I would make sure the Eels play the Warriors in the first round every year.

Fixed BF - forgot to put broadcast times in for all the games.

In an ideal world, both Nine/Gem and Fox would show ALL matches live somehow.

I think fox should be allowed to show live games when channel 9 do since some people like me have an analog tv , so i only use fox due to cable and the digital box is a pain in the you know what since have to change the room around to get reception due to a crap area that hardly gets good reception.
and let fox have all free to air channels

I think the way it is now is pretty good, though I think all games should be live the delay on the sunday game is no good for anyone and im suprised gambling companies are not threatening to withdraw sponsorship over this. As for this week the only thing they got wrong was the FTA sunday game being between 2 teams that were nowhere near the finals last year and don't look to be contenders this year. Manly Melbourne would have been the obvious choice imo.

Thursday nights crowd would have been a dissapointment to those who scheduled it, but I think there was a feeling before the game that Souths were going to struggle so many of the fairweather fans decided to stay home, also SFS would have been a better venue for this game.

Friday night would have done better in Brisbane I know they were playing on the whole Dogs fans hate Barber thing but a full stadium would have been a possiblity for the kick off the season in QLD

Last thing, why only 1 game outside of sydney not a good way to promote the start of the season

I would have one game on the Friday with the rest spread between Saturday and Sunday and the odd game on a Monday or Thursday (2-3 slots each).

Have the schedule be set in stone time wise every round except round 26 with channel 9 reserving the right to change their Friday night game with another game but they have to give 4 week’s notice to all clubs involved and other factors like turnaround time have to be taken into account. This is similar to the NBC deal with the NFL.
