Before you look at how well Webb went in the last two weeks you should ask yourself how well has he gone in the last two years. Smells like contract time performances to me. Even Webb's alter ego Owen can turn on some fantastic performances every now and again (around contract time).

Just because he hasn't been in first grade doesn't mean his not up to scratch. Unless you been watching him play in toowoomba for the last two years that is!!

Seems to me there are some personality issues up there with Webb and Bennent!!

Let's not forget that he has played SOO and he still is better that what we have at the Tigers and Magpies.

Ps Tonga wasn't that good last year according to some people.
I don`t think Yappy was talking about him playing reserve grade, but the fact is that every year you will find that quite a few players become good 1st graders despite playing mainly or all reserve grade in the years previously!

Yappy is entitled to his opinion but he also said in a previous post that he is the Owen Criagie of forwards.

Now i don't recall what year Owen played SOO :?:

Now i'm not saying that just because his played SOO he will qualify to become an immortal but we know how he can play, can break the line and has leg speed. 3 things the Tigers are looking for.

Compared to what's available ATM.

I just thought he was being a bit harsh on Webb!!
Do you think he would add something to the Tigers or make us worse :?:

I think Carl Webb would add plenty to the Tigers. He`s by far the best player to meet our needs that is still available!

webb is certainly the forward with the most potential out of the remaining forwards on the market.
what is in his favour is his age,at only 23 he can get back to rep footy.
with his hammy injury his weight ballooned out as quickly as his ego did after his origin debut.
he has dropped his weight, and apparantly his attitude has changed alot especially in toowoomba while taking a leadership role.

i wouldn't be handing big dollars to him,he hasn't earned the right to,but i would give him the opportunity to earn big dollars if he performs with reselection in origin and so forth.
the ball is in his court as to how much he wants to earn on top of a 125-150k contract.

hopefully prince has been talking to him lately and the tigers are offering these terms .

Ken McGuinness has played five Origin games - better sign him up quick!
Rodney Howe has played eight and he's off contract - quick get a pen.
Matty Seers played four - maybe a comeback?
Matt Adamson has played two - come home from England son!
Darren Albert played one - the new Tigers wing sensation?
Bring back Hoppa - he played in the Blue once.
Micky B for Blue to go around again in 2005?
Three game Moodie to join him?
Brett Dallas, Darren Smith, Paul Green, Jamie Goddard, Kevin Campion, Chris Beattie. They all played Origin, all played some form of footy this year and are all could be Tigers in 2005. Add Prince, Hodgo and big Carl and you've got a State of Origin 17 which should exite all you kiddies who think playing Origin means you don't have to actually perform week in week out. (and before you laugh most of these guys are in Sheens proven target age group).

But seriously, yeah sure sign Webb, but like Bon said it's got to be on a contract that puts the risks for spending too much time at Maccas firmly in his court. I think even the $150K mentioned is too much unless there are some strict conditions (say weight related) and hefty fines for failing to meet them. Even $150k is a friggin lot of dough and the temptation to cop the money and bludge for two years then have a few blinders to secure another contract with another bunch of suckers great for a guy with form. Add some incentives so that if he does get serious and regains his best form on a consistent basis then he can make some proper Origin style dough.

The question of whether he makes the Tigers worse or better depends entirely on which Carl Webb you buy. Spend big bucks on the fat and lazy Carl Webb and for sure he makes the place worse. Get the Carl Webb that has played the last two games for the Bronc's and get him there every week and he improves the joint. Like Owen it's a big risk - can the Tigers afford to get it wrong?

The team you've mention would smack the Tigers line up anyday!!
even with Ken McGuinness in the team. :D

Yeh but seriously ist't everyteam taking a risk with whom ever the signed.

Paramatta

Stringer- Fat and slow lazy Forward who spends more time on the sideline
than on the field
Tahu- try scoring machine or turnstlie with bad Hammy's
Riddel- Top notch hooker or fat pig who barely play's 40min

Cowboys

Thurston- attacking genious or speedbump
Smith- Strong second rower or thug

Manly

Kennedy- SOO second rower or hospital patient
Kite - SOO player or one year wonder

Tigers

Whatuira- NZ international centre or or overated hack.

Any way you get the picture!!!!!!!

I did mention that playing SOO would not make him an immortal but you obviously missed that !

Yeah, it wasn't my original intention, but as the team started to take shape I thought 'hang on!'.

Yes I noted your statement about Origin not making him an immortal and yes of course any signing is a risk. It's just that some are riskier than others. That's why I say if you do sign Carl make sure he bears most of the risk himself. If he performs then let him make a motza - no problemo, but if he bludges it should hurt him big time in the back pocket.

I certainly believe Parra are paying way overs if the figures being quoted are true, but if they can also snare Morro and depending on how their halves come together next year they are looking like a side going up rather than down the ladder. I think the Sharks are also looking like they are going to go forward, as are Souths and the Warriors and Manly. Not convinced yet that the Tigers are in the same boat, but still a while to go yet.

What about bringing Mal Kaufusi home? He would be cheap (Parra obviously dont have plans for him). Obviously not the one to turn things around but wh o would you rather , him or Patterson?

Instead of wasting money on questionable signings, go with Jamie Small. Brock Hunter and Mick Harper, who are both v/big units, have performed well in Flegg. It's just a matter of waiting if the right players aren't available to sign or willing to come to the club.
