I think that a good idea Vicious, 3 groups & the teams in the group face others in th group twice, the other teams once I doubt it will happen though

Yeah where are we getting these players from? You would have to introduce a draft, but that is impossible in RL.

Look at some of the guys in first grade this year and tell me where you are going to get another 70 odd players from?
England? Hardly.
Also the NRL don't have the money to spread out to 18 clubs which the NRL clubs rely on.

Haven't we learnt anything from the problems 10 years ago when there were 20 teams and 22 in 1997?

Half of them are pro reserve graders and nothing more.

Get rid of premier league? Huh? That is crazy! I would say very few of the guys in premier league are up to the standard of the NRL. That's why they're in PL.

Also a draft won't happen in league because of the legal issues.

Perth were very competitive and so too have Melbourne been.If you have half decent management,it`s not hard to put together a good,competitive football side.Particularly if you have 3 and a bit million to spend!

The last thing we want is 18 teams and boring football being played. Now we are seeing good quality football more than ever, but there are still clubs that struggle. Why would we want to add another three?!?!?!?!

A draft of some form will eventually come back.It`s inevitable!
If clubs are allowed to sign any 17 players they want,but all remaining players go into a pool in which they can only be picked up in a pre-season draft so that clubs can fill the remaining positions in their squads.Work it out,if the top clubs were only allowed to have 17 players signed at this stage,there would be plenty of talented players left on the market.

According to Sterlo, 170 players have made their first grade debut in the NRL over the last 2 seasons. Seems to be quite a few players available for an extra team.

Someone is always going to be dropped because there are more players than jobs available.

170 making their debut shows there are players available for another team that contains a mix of old established players plus some new young ones.

Injuries and suspensions mean there will always be a lot of players playing one or two first grade games, but that doesn't mean they are first grade quality. Look at some of the players used when Origin players are unavailable, they are not exactly world class.

Having 18 teams would take RL back 10 years. If we are going to add teams we have to go it slowly. 16 should be the limit.

If we have 18 then someone will come on here and say we should add Perth and Adelaide and have 20 teams, then a second Brisbane team, then a PNG team.

Hey all we need is good management by the clubs and we could have 22 teams right??? :roll:

Hit the nail on the head. We could fill 50 teams if we wanted, but we want to see top quality RL each week, not just when Origin is on.
