Manly, Canterbury and the Cowboys are all still attacking with block plays in slow motion. They are miles behind now the game has quickened up and you have to adlib a bit and think on your feet. Like Souths, Penrith, the Roosters even Melbourne.

Manly's only try tonight came from a good offload. Everytime they tried to run plays they were hopelessly slow.

St George offer hope to all these teams they aren't amazing but they have at least picked up the pace of the game.

Manly's bench forwards in every game have out performed their starters maybe they should switch them around. I would try Foran off the bench as a dummy half, Try and find a young outside back from somewhere I am sure there is enough talent around but you have to look for it.

Jake Trbojevic and DCE are massively underperforming also they can't defend and unless they make some pretty big changes they will finish bottom.

Des has been bad a for a while now, injuries are far too common as are overpaid players (Marty T DCE the Turbos). No one in their right mind signs Foran. They need to sack Des and his staff and start all over again.

They're broke, they've poorly managed their cap, their stadium should be condemned, etc, etc. The real question is what isn't wrong with Manly.

Seriously though, IMO, considering their circumstances they've over achieved for years and in the last couple years they've started to fall back down to earth.

At the risk of sounding like I'm "death riding" here, the next few years are going to be pivotal for Manly, and indeed the shape of rugby league north of the bridge.

It's time the NRL stepped in & made some big decisions about how that side of the city is represented at the top level.

The coach is stuck in 2008, and has a penchant for playing players out of position, inexplicably weakening numerous spots at the same time.

The halfback is taking up way too much of the cap, and has a long neck.

The fullback is incapable of playing any more than a handful of games in a row.

The hooker is facing serious charges in court, and has just been re-signed, despite not being available, and looking at jail time....and we have just signed another hooker, as his replacement, who is also unavailble for the majority of the year.

The 5/8 is held together with duct tape, and is also from the 2008 era, thus his signing ( see point 1).

We are the slowest team in the comp, by a fair margin.

Our wingers are slow, easily rag-dolled and ineffective at all aspects of the game.

Our centres are slow, one tries too hard, and f**ks up a lot.
The other likes KFC too much, and can't tackle.

Jake T has become Aiden Tolman, except he has a 900k price tag.

Marty T wants out, and we should let him go asap, and save some of his overinflated salary.

I've probably missed a few, but you get the gist.
So .... you are saying there is a chance???

Worst backline in the comp coupled with one of the worst packs in the comp.
Turbo aside Taufua and Sironen are big losses because they really help stabilise their edge defence, Saab is absolutely terrible, Boyle is a reserve grade at best and Schuster looks like he's never played edge back row before

I was baffled when the Bulldogs signed Foran because he should have retired 5 years ago but then Manly doubled down on stupid. So, terrible recruitment and retention and injuries. We shouldn't feel sorry for them as they'll probably bounce back and win a comp before my mob.

They are on target for their first spoon

The COE could end them as a NRL club

NRL has already targeted them and Cronulla for relocation of exclusion

I think appointing a coach who was awful at his previous club might have something to do with it. Same thing is happening at the dogs.

Main issue is the squad. Cap is soaked up by the big three which leaves little room to plug the other gaps.

Lost Korisau, then Fainu. Huge gap left at 9. Forward passes from dummy-half are criminal.

Heavily reliant on Tommy in attack. Backup fullback options don't cut it.

Backrow and forward depth has slowly eroded over the last 2-3 years. They have Tapau and Big Jake and yet they are close to the least feared pack in the competition.

The old fashioned Des ambush isn't a factor anymore either. They aren't getting up for big games.

They flat out look like they don't like each other. Foran was silly signing. If the team is going to be this bad you may as well get a good look at Schuster.

And where would Manly relocate ?

New Zealand, Adelaide, Central Coast, Somewhere in Queensland (at a pinch).. the options are plentiful.

Just as likely, the club drops to NSW Cup level & it's NRL license ends up with another entity - either that's the Bears (in an attempt to make a replacement northern Sydney team) or some other location gets the spot & the north side of Sydney ends up being taken by an existing Sydney NRL club.
