What would your off-season plan be?

A RB, CB and WR through the draft and FA. I believe the Broncos can sign a very good WR but Tebow's limitations may prevent a marquee FA WR like Colston from coming to Denver.

A RB and CB in the draft would much us much stronger for next season.

I believe Tebow has regressed the last month so there is a lot of work to be done in the off-season, especially arund his decision making.

1st - Janoris Jenkins CB or Devon Still DT or Alfonzo Denard CB
2nd - Chris Polk RB
3rd - Coby Fleener TE (pretty much a WR but fits the bill as he is a blocker as well)
4th - Jeff Fuller WR or Tommy Streeter WR
5th - Matt Reynolds, OT or Ryan Steed CB
6th - NO PICK
7th - Matt Daniels, SS

What you think?

Tag Jackson, trade him, i think we could get a 2nd round pick for him and i could see the Niners getting interested in him. Would be a good fit for all concerned i think.

Trade Asante, ive seen his value reported to be around a 3rd, which is good.

Move Castillo to another position on the coaching staff. Bring in a DC who is going to coach bump and run (which is what we should be playing next year with DRC and Nnamdi) and not going to f**k too much with the wide 9. Spags? I know he uses a lot of zone blitz etc, but i think he could adapt with a front 4 getting as much pressure as ours does

We've got a truck load of picks in the middle rounds now, which we will use in this draft as Andy knows, his arse is grass unless we're SB contenders next year

1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 6, 6, 6

Pick 1, #15: Michael Floyd. He's got all the right skills to flurish in an Andy Reid - Mike Vick system. He's mocked to go around this area. Direct replacement for Jackson

Pick 2: Use next year's first (what does any care? if it all goes pear shaped he's out anyways) and a 2nd to move back into the 1st round late to take ILB Dont'a Hightower/Luke Kuechly. Which will give us an immediate starter at MLB, which means we can move Chaney back as a WILL.

Pick 3: Will be around mid rd 2, select Mark Barron, SS. Nate Allen when healthy is a good FS, we need to pair him with a young run crushing SS. I like Coleman as a back up safety but he takes too many poor angles and whiffs on too many tackles to be a starter, with Barron and Hightower/Kuechly we are now much better against the run.

Pick 4: Middle 2nd round pick again thanks to the Cards Kolb trade. Select Vinny Curry, if he's there, we wont be i dont think, but mocks have him around here. Babin and Cole are both getting on, we need a young guy to groom behind them. If he's gone, i like Lucus Nix OG, we need to continue to get younger on the Line and Andy loves a good lineman.

Pick 5: Use a 4th and a 3rd, to get back into the 2nd round late and get Trevor Lewis OLB. He'll take some time but by seasons end should be the starting SAM backer, will combine with Chaney at WILL and our new MLB, we finally have a LB core that can handle the wide 9 and let the secondary do what they do. Casey Matthews and Brian Rolle worked well in the back end of the year in limited rolls, and we can continue to use them as Nickel backers.

Pick 6: Will be a 3rd rounder, time to give Andy what he really wants, and thats more OLine talent, im getting deep into the draft here and havent looked enough into it, but someone who will fit into Washburn's scheme. After hand picking Kelece, id happily let Washburn make his own call on this one.

Pick 7: 4th round pick, in a deep CB pool, and Asante not coming back, ill take some depth here to develop behind DRC, Nnamdi. Hanson is a good slot corner, we can keep him there with some depth here.

Pick 8: 5th round pick, we need a Return specialist. We need one big time to help take the pressure off our offense and give us some good starting points.

the rest: Stocking fillers, where ever the roster needs depth, could get some extra help at DT, or look at a project QB to replace Vince Young as #3 behind Kafka.

We address all major issues in defense and give ourselves a chance at being a top 5 D. We get rid of a whinging sooking jackson and replace him with with a bigger body and still maintain verticle threat via Maclin and Floyd.

Laurie made it clear to Andy Reid in his statement, that another year like this can not and will not be tolerated, unless we are legitimate SB contenders (so id say NFC championship game at the very least) he is done.

Which puts pressure on AR but also gives him somewhat of a license to go for broke draft pick wise, because if it doesnt pan out, its not his problem, he spend up big, use some carrots from next year to get the positions of need he requires to get us ack where we should be.

As Cowboys GM my plan for 2012 is

Release/Not Re-Sign/Retire
Jon Kitna QB
Mat McBriar P
Sammy Morris RB
Tony Fiammetta FB
Terence Newman CB
Keith Brooking LB
Bradie James LB
Martellus Bennett TE
Alan Ball DB

Re-Sign:
Kevin Ogletree WR (Restricted Free Agent)
Clifton Geathers DE (Exclusive Rights Free Agent)
Jesse Holley WR (Exclusive Rights Free Agent)
Laurent Robinson WR (top notch #3 reciever who may push Austin to be #2)
Abram Elam S (but as no more then a backup)
Anthony Spencer LB (but as no more then a backup)

Draft
R1. Cornerback - with both Newman and Ball gone it leaves a big gap at cornerback, with just Jenkins and Scandrick. We need to draft a starter to pair with Jenkins.

R2. Outside Linebacker - with Spencer re-signed as back up we need to find another pass rushing OLB to start with Ware.

R3. Safety - Sensabaugh did ok at free safety. At strong safety Elam showed he is no more then a back up.

FA's:
Nose Tackle - the Cowboys need a big body to play a big body position. Paul Soliai has the build and the ability to fill the spot and allow Ratliff to move to DE.

Cornerback - in urgent need of repair. Newman is gone. Jenkins is good but suffers injuries. Scandrick is best playing the slot. Cortland Finnegan and Carlos Rogers are two free agents who could fill a big need.

Guard/Tackle - Doug Free had a poor season. Smith is the future at one tackle spot, most likely on the left. The Cowboys are either old or young at guard. The old are past their prime. Ben Grubbs and Carl Nicks are two big options for the Cowboys to look at.
