Not sure why I’m treating this thread remotely seriously when it’s obviously a troll but here goes.
I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss the claim outright. The NRL has had its own history with racism towards indigenous players and in recent memory multiple players have been racially vilified including Latrell.
The problem is you’re ignoring any and all context. The AFL is a game played by white people, supported by white people and run by white people (including some notable racists). It’s got a long history of racism, shit depending who you ask the game itself was founded by stealing from indigenous people. It was a game borne from racism.
The NRL is far more diverse both on and off the field and this isn’t the lone POC being singled out to be booed.
You also can’t ignore the personalities of these players. Adam Goodes is basically the nice guy of the AFL and generally an all around likeable dude. The reason for his booing stemmed straight back to the fact that he called out racism. Go back and listen to some of the racist shit coming from high profile people in the AFL back then towards him.
This is the opposite to Latrell. Latrell is basically the bad guy of the league and he plays that fact up. He’s a dirty player and riles up fans whenever he can. He also plays for the club that everyone loves to hate after abandoning their direct rival. The reason for him getting booed doesn’t just come from the fact that he called out racists. He also hasn’t faced the same level of ire all across the country like Goodes did.
There are plenty of examples of white players with similar personalities getting similar treatment. People like Gallen, Ennis, Smith as some high profile examples.
Lodge is a dumb example. f**k all people even know about his bad behaviour and frankly no one cares about him. His a plodder prop that most people forget about 5 minutes after they see him.
Truth is people care about what they see and they’re far more likely to hate you if you’re actually good which Latrell is.
