I was down in Sydney at some Italian friends family gathering. I was mesmerised by these guys smashing seven shades of sh*t out of each other. I got told to go play with the other kids but I kept coming back. I had to be dragged away.

It was the grand final between Canterbury and Parra in 84. It took a few years for me to convert my dad and eventually the whole family but the seed was planted on that day.

I also tasted Anchovies for the first time that day, something unfortunately I still cant forget. Seriously people, they are F*cking rancid....

Parramatta in 1958 with Johnny Slade at full back, Billy Rayner, Roy Fisher in the front row.
Can vividly recall the first game of the 1960 season Parra v St George at SCG in match of day. Ron Boden was captain/coach of Parra (the Fruit Pickers as they were known then)
We had hopes of a good season. Paul Pyers had been signed from Queensland and Robin Gair the half back was a good player.
Norm Provan hit Pyers with a head high, broke his jaw that was it. St George won 52-0. I can remember the game like it was yesterday.
But then again I am flat out remembering what happened yesterday..
The Parramatta side of those days were what endeared me to Rugby League. I have not regretted one moment of my support for the Parra side. Definitely given me more pleasure than heartache..my favourite of all time, the Mayor, Ken Thornett..
Ahhhh those were the days..

It was in 1983 and the Panthers were taking on the Raiders at Penrith Park. I was only 9 at the time and had only just gotten into League.

I remember that the score at halftime was 18-14 in favour of the Raiders and I actually thought that was the end of the game. I didn't realise that the game was played in two halves.

Penrith went on to win that game 28 - 24.

I remember standing on the hill, where the Eastern Grandstand is now situated, playing touch footy with some of my mates.
