What's your favourite war movie?

It may or may not be considered a war movie depending on how you look at it, but I'll say Aliens. A phenomenally well-made movie.

Conventional war, quite easily Full Metal Jacket.

Saving Private Ryan, The Hurt Locker and Platoon. The Serbian movie Pretty Village Pretty Flame is one of my favourites but you guys probably haven't even heard of it. Do yourself a favour and watch the subtitled version.

That's a tough one.

The battle of Algiers
Apocalypse now
Das boot
The bridge of the river Kwai
Der untergang
Stalag 17
Patton
The great escape
Paths of glory
The thin red line
Breaker Morant

If there was a gun to my head , probably The Great Escape.

Most overrated war movie ever.

Everyone to their own I guess , but its a masterpiece IMO.

Martin sheen is simply brilliant. The opening scene in the hotel is just traumatic.

Duvall as Kilgore is amazing.

The whole story of the filming is much like the Vietnam war itself.

Marlin Brando made everyones life utter hell & was hated by everybody between skirmishes during the actual war, too?

Awesome, will check it out as I have a keen interest in the ICTY and all things former Yugoslavia.

Thanks mate.

Does Band of Brothers count?
I've yet to watch The Pacific yet, despite having it on bluRay since x-mas.

Maybe not my favorite but "Brotherhood of War" a sub-titled South Korean movie is absolutely amazing.

I dunno, I actually enjoyed it. Was left with a weird feeling after I watched it lol
There's a lot of other good ones though and if Band of Brothers counts then I'd put it up there too.

Duno how I forgot Schindlers List

Saving Private Ryan, Full Metal Jacket, The Hurt Locker, Enemy at the Gates, and Der Untergang all go alright.

As far as shows go, Band of Brothers and the criminally short lived 'Over There' were the balls.
