100% agree with you....why should we get rid of players who show such loyalty in this day & age!!
...
If he isn't resigned asap and his contract isn't upgraded since he showed great loyalty by sticking with us.....i'll find it hard to watch another Parra game!!

here here... accept  my favourite player (next to Burty of course ;-) ) in Daniel Irvine... i already have a hard time renewing next years tix  as i said, im the jinx

Maybe they'll wait to see how his collarbone holds up before they think of re-signing him?

They just better not leave it too late.

Don't forget he has a bung shoulder too. Be interesting to see if Parra offer him a new cntract when his current one's up.

Firstly please ignore my above post, I didnt realise I was still posting under my old nick. Anyways on with the response...

If Burt goes, I like others have mentioned will be totally gutted. Yes he was a Newcastle junior but the boy loves parra and the people of parra love him. I still remember Burty as a 17 year old making his debut on the Olympic Stadium in 1999. I was 12 years old at the time and I was in love  haha i'll never forget meeting him then. Well I suppose we were all young and dizzy once wern't we

Burt is a great winger. Talented, versatile, quick, safe are words that come to mind and along with Guru Jnr I would like to see them both nail down the positions in 2004. I like Petersen, but he is prone to too many mistakes and often smacks with too much effort when not necessarily required. Maybe burty will make Origin in 2004, and Smith will see what a great attribute he is and draw him up a rewarding contract that made the pay cut he took at the end of last year really worth it in the end.

WE LOVE YA BURTY! [=D>]

I really could not see us letting Burty go!
Crikey he may as well be part of the furniture!!

Burty is such a class act and to see him go through so much bad luck over the last 12 months has been crushing.

I really hope he can put 2003 behind him, and come out firing in 2004.

Hehe, i was a dizzy 13 y - o, and i was like, so going to marry luke burt... eep, how embarassing *sorry burty* i remember picking him as my new favourite cos any 17y-o who could make his debut in front of 104, 000 people was good enough for me! God, im a 17 y-o now and i can barely manage the HSC!
and if burty made origin this year, i'd be decked out in the 'burty' blues jersey, and be floating on a cloud all week! how awesome would that be...!
on the other hand, if he were to be released at the end of next year... he'd do anything for this club, lets hope this club can manage something, anything, for him, yea?

Hindys and Caylos contract are to be renewed at the end of 2005 yeah? If this is the case I think you will see them re-signed next year. At least one of them anyways.

Burty was on fire and would've made SOO without the injuries. I'm sure he'll come back well in 2004, and once th Eels are sure that he's beat the injuries and in form he'll be made an offer early on.

I agree it would be good to secure Hindy and Cayless before the year their contracts expire. But not Vella, unless he plays himself back into SOO form in a hurry!

Well I was talking to Nath Hindy just before the end of the season and he seems to think that he will be re-signed next year. But a lot can happen between now and then....

There is no way we'll let Burt go. We have enough money to upgrade his contract anyhow. We were offering a lot of money for Blacklock and he didn't sign. So I guess we still have a fair bit up our sleeve. Burt wouldn't be demanding much. I think 120k maximum

 God... If Luke goes... I don't know what I would do.... probably be very upset... He has shown great loyalty to Parramatta and damnit he should have had a great year this year had it not been for his collarbone injury... *sigh*

I can't wait to bring out my new Burty banner next year...
