Flanagan built cronulla up from the bottom up after ricky left them in a mess mid 2010. They were at rock bottom.

Yes the elephant in the room is the peptide saga. How much did that improve performance we will never know.

But cronulla have been a consistent force for 4 years now as grubby as they are.

He also isn't afraid to speak his mind in press conferences after and before games and seems to have a steely resolve.

He did play for parramatta and coached lower grades here in the early 2000's so he should know the junior systems pretty well.

One week bagging the crap out of refs when they lose

Next week telling the world the refs need support and are doing a tough job when they should have lost eg raiders game

comes across as a hypercrite

the peptites has more than a question mark - up up cronulla

Instead we have a coach to pissweak to say boo about anything, no wonder why the refs are happy to bend us over every week.

If there is such a thing as referee's favouritism towards certain clubs, in my opinion it isnt because of any coaches behaviour in the post match press conferences but rather the overall attitude of the club itself towards the NRL.

Broncos, Storm, Cowboys and Roosters each have an attirude that the NRL needs them, not that they need the NRL. This attitude permeates through everything they do, from onfield refereeing, preferential tv coverage, player testimonnials, favoured draws, sometimes perhaps even MRC decisions... everything.

Our problem is we do not have the leaders in the club to demand the same treatment, despite the fact we are the biggest Sydney based club in terms of supporters, juniors and tv drawing power.

And I am not just talking about Max and the current Board... this goes back years to the start of Super League and our position to stick with the ARL. When the merger happened and the NRL was formed we should have taken a stance there and then that they needed us. We didn't and we are still paying the price of being softcocks.

We need a CEO with the balls to get tougher with the NRL in every way. We need a GM of Football who will not kowtow to the NRL.

We need to talk the talk until we are strong enough to walk the walk. Argue for a stronger draw in our favour. 2018 draw with us playing 4 teams twice in 10 weeks was crap. Fight the occasional charge at the judiciary, complain and cop a fine at the presser sometimes, refuse to move the final game of a one club legend, etc. etc.

What are they going to do?
Kick us out...??

Bellamy whinges about Parramatta wrestling tactics

Steve Orme

Published on Jul. 8, 2017

Seriously, Craig?

He has been widely blamed for introducing the wrestling scourge to rugby league, but that didn’t stop Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy from complaining about Parramatta’s use of the tactic on Saturday night.

Missing six of their Origin stars, the ladder-leaders were slow out of the blocks against the Eels.

Bellamy slammed his players’ for their sluggish start in the 22-6 loss but also blamed the referees for not policing the ruck to his liking.

“We get criticised a lot by opposition coaches for slowing the game down but I thought it was really slow tonight,” Bellamy fumed.

“They were just laying on, laying on, laying on (in the tackle) but good luck to them, they got away with it.”

The fiery coach also took issue with officials after they stopped the game three times for injured Eels players but didn’t do the same for one of his players.

Bellamy was so incensed he left the coach’s box and headed down the sideline looking for answers.

“I just wanted to ask why the game was stopped three times when Parramatta players were injured and why when Jerome Hughes went into the fence or whatever he went into over there, why the game wasn’t stopped then,” he said.

“I just couldn’t understand that and I’ve been given the answer that the referee asked Jerome if he was OK and Jerome must have said yes.

“But at the end of the day I don’t think it’s the referee’s job to decide whether a player’s injured or not.

“That inconsistency irked me at the time … we either stop the game for injuries or we don’t stop the game, it’s one or the other.

“… To me, if we’re going to stop the game for injuries let’s stop the game for all injuries, or if you’re going to stop it for HIAs, let’s stop it for that.

“But let’s get a bit of consistency about it rather than stopping it for some and not for others, to me that’s just stupid.”

There was some talk about how good the dogs are going, well it looks like they have 3 Assistant coaches and their own NSW cup side:

https://www.bulldogs.com.au/news/2017/10/23/bulldogs-confirm-assistant-coaches/

So one assistant coach is also the NSW cup coach.

Just compare that to what the eels started the year with, one assistant coach and no NSW cup side.

Just shows what resources other sides get compared to us.

Additionally it’s suggested we need a new attack coach, well it appears David Penna is the dogs backs coach (so I assume he has a major role in attack), well he was recruited from Souths last year who were terrible. Yet Souths attack is great this year and dogs apparently have good attack too - so was Penna responsible for bad attack last year but good attack this year? Anyhow I just think it shows that there is a whole range of factors involved in fixing a sides attack and not as simple as replacing an assistant coach.

In our new Chairman, I think we have some gonads. Not sure our CEO is as ballsy to be honest.
Love your honesty mate. Ive felt for a fair while his tenure would be short. With the little knowledge i have of our operation, my spider senses told me we arent getting what we hoped we would. Another Sterling Recomendation that hasnt panned out. I guess its very different when you have someone like Politis in the background.
