Where are the Queenslanders?!?!

We have...

Campbell (Inverell, NSW)

Bailey (Port Kembla, NSW)

Carney (Ireland)

Laffranchi (Murwillumbah, NSW)

Where are the Queenslanders?!

Having Queenslanders was the point of having this team and nothing will help bring support to the team more than having them.

I didn't see any moves to go after Harrison or any other off contract Queenslanders.

So who do you think the first Queenslander signed will be?

Go Murwillumbah!
QLD should go down to Ballina. Laffranchi debuted on QLD soil as a senior. :)

At least Campbell and Laffranchi have good links with the region.

But some Queenslanders would be nice! #-o

Like I pointed out earlier this year Diehard, you were saying Queensland needs a third team, and I said the Gold Coast is only stopped from being in NSW by the border at Coolangatta. With the team practically on the edge of NSW, you'uve got to expect to have a few NSW boys in the team- they're from just down the road anyway!

But Queenslanders should be priority signings.

I agree- although geographically I believ that would more be the case if there was a second Brisbane team or a side from further north. I actually would have supported a second Brisbane team over the Gold Coast. More true Queenslanders reside there, and history has shown that the Gold Coast is a graveyard for national sporting sides.

I see the Gold Coast as a stepping stone to a 2nd Brisbane team.

I welcome NSW players into the Gold Coast team, although I'd like to see a majority to Queensland. If that means 10 Queenslands and 7 NSWers, then that's fine.

No matter what team they field, over time Queenslanders will come through the ranks and the team will be more and more Maroon.

But it does make me wonder, why no Queenslanders?

Harrison would have been a perfect signing!

I wouldnt pannick too much just yet. Bailey would have been snapped up by the Broncos or any other team. He is just that good. Campbell might have been from inverell (not far from the border), but he was Gold Coast (Chargers) bread player so he isnt exactly true Blue New South Welshman. Lafranchi a stones throw from the Coast and was probably conceived in Qld anyway. The Qlders will come and will dominate the side, but the coast have been very clever with their signings so far and not tried to buy just for the sake of it. Harrison would have been a good signing but only if he didnt want too much money, which he probably did.

I think the use of Feeder clubs will attribute to most qld players. Burleigh/ipswich not so much tweed.

Not at this stage, the getting the best side on the paddock is the priority. The locals will filter through in years to come.

And the Goldy is on the doorstep of NSW, Tweed boys do not consider themselves QLD'ers! We are proud to be New South Welshman!

Not going after Ashley Harrison shouldn't have been a priority?!

I think that the team should recruit first and foremost from the Southern Division of QLD and the Northern Rivers Division of NSW. The Gold Coast club is in a unique position of stradling two borders, and shouldn't pick one side, and thus leave the other out.

I can see the Coast being a major feeder for both Origin sides in the future...they don't need to pick one state.

Storm backup hooker Nathan Friend may sign with GC. He just re-signed with the Storm for 1 year and the club have been trying to get him a 1st grade contract with another club since 03. He has a great work rate, rarely (if ever) gets injured, and only a backup because we have Queensland's number 9 playing for us.

Would be a very handy addition to GC and I'd be happy to see him play for you guys.
