As a warriors fan I was watching some YouTube highlights and tries from the incredible entertaining side of 2002 season the other day and was wondering what the likes of Clinton Toopi, Ali Lauiti’iti, Jerry Seuseu, Richard Villasanti and Brent Webb etc are doing these days and if they are still involved in RL today in some capacity?

same goes for any other players from your team or certain era you’d like to hear about.

Toopi is on the Goldy/Logan doing alot for junior footy and the community. Brent Webb didn't the Broncos sign him and he f**ked off after 1 game?

Bumped into Luke Pattern the General from the doggies 2000s era at Coles yesterday. Poor bugger is limping like a mofo. Still looks fit as hell for 45YO

What does that job do?

look after the young players coming through the different age groups?
Only know from other sports where it's often about helping them deal with the pressures of a potential pro sports career and the dissapointment if it doesn't work out (which for most of them it won't).

What’s former raiders flying Fijian winger Noa Nadruku doing these days?

I believe he lives near Canberra, does laboring work and coaches. I think he was at their 30 year reunion recently and mentioned his son plays Union for Manly

It honestly blows my mind that ex professionals of the calibre of nadruku would be doing labouring work post retirement from RL.

I remember during the first COVID lockdown that Josh Morris said he'd be on the tools if the 2020 season didn't go ahead which indicates to most people that despite a 13 year professional career at the time, being an Australian international, Origin winner, grand final winner etc that he only had enough money to keep himself afloat for less than a year.

Unfortunately given the skill, risk and ability needed to play professional rugby league the money made isn't going to set you up for life unless you're a superstar of the game.

I recently watched a clip on Youtube about former NZ Warriors players and they caught up with both Charlie Gubb and Simon Mannering. Gubb I believe did a trade in plumbing and Mannering moved to QLD to work in labouring.

I just wonder what would happen to the current crop of players in big money post rugby league playing.

Agree. We can't all be Kevvie and also have a coaching and commentary career post our playing career.

ps, Josh unfortunately never won a GF unless you were referring to Brett.

Very very few NRL players get 'set for life' from their playing career earnings. Today the average wage for a top 30 NRL Player is $365k. Keep in mind the salary cap has doubled in the past 10 years, so guys who played over a deacde ago would have been around $150k average. Take out tax, manager, RLPA fees etc and it doesnt leave with the glamourous lifestyle a lot envisage.

One advantage they do have is that they pay for FA. Basically get given all clothing, supplements, a lot of meals etc
