Was a good player for the Bears and then Wests Tigers. Served Norths and the Joint-Venture well. All the best to him and his family for life after football.

i know he played for us then took off to wakefield trinity on a 3 yr deal, and i didnt think it was 3 years ago he left. i could be wrong, i was suprised when i seen his name in premier league in the centres for sharks a few weeks ago....... best of luck to him, he was a very SAFE FULLBACK although seriously troubled

Unfortunately though had a habbit of being really out of position, which seen him move to the centres in his final season - and to be honest was one of our best throughout that year (2002 i think).

One thing about him , you could not criticise his heart and his effort.

Matty was a fantastic player with plenty of speed. I still remember that try saving tackle he made in a semi final quite a few yrs back playing for the bears where he came from the clouds. Celebrates his 30th b'day this wknd and best wishes to him.

Matty Seers was a grub . Just like his cousin Craig Field .
Neither gave a stuff about their fans off the field .
Both would have made it to the top , but neither had the brains to go with their footballing talent.

Don't suppose he has any relatives working for WT? Maybe we could give him a second tier contract and he could be our sixth choice fullback for State Cup. He could also captain our Auckland 9's team.
