Where should Dugan play

Donate both Inglis and Dugan to the premiers and neither would get Green's nod to play fullback, they would never oust Coote who is a far better #1. Not saying Dugan and Inglis can't play fullback, but only when there is no alternative

Wow!
Nothing against coote, he is a great fullback, but to say he is better then Inglis is just laughable

Fair go Mr Cut & Paste, no need to shoot the messenger, I'm just doing my bit to bolster the forum in the offy by throwing in a couple of threads on current topical subjects. Dugan himself thinks he's playing out of position, Inglis was far more influential at Melbourne than at Souths and the prospect of Fergo playing #1 conjures up emergency ward

I reckon he could be a dynamic ball playing hooker/lock forward if he bulked up a bit more. Dragons could play Dylan Farrell in his junior position of fullback.

Laugh away ol' mate . . . ask Green where he'd play Inglis with a fit and now apparently durable Coote in the side. Then you could ask Robbo where he'd play Inglis if RTS was still in Bondi, after that give Benny a call and ask him why he wanted Inglis at the Broncos . . . forget asking Bellamy even if Slater was unavailable

Anyway, the thread just asks LUers to comment on the story that Dugan says he'd rather play Centre, give a reason for or against as did I and pass a little time. I happen to think Dugan and the other players I mentioned would serve their team better at Centre, nothing to be scared of here, I'm in cruising mode

If inglis went to the Cowboys or broncos it would force boyd and coote to the wing (you may have noticed it's inglis that fills into fullback in slaters absence for australia and Queensland not boyd). If inglis was at the roosters at the start of last season rts would probably off stayed on the wing, but now that rts has had a season at fullback and proven himself it makes things harder. Rts might be pushed to 5-8th, a move that's been proposed before, but most likely because they are pretty even as fullbacks, but inglis is also a great centre and rts is wasted on the wing you'd have inglis in the centres purely because it's best for the team not necessarily because rts is better then inglis.
It's similar at a rep for slater. Hayne, slater and inglis have been the best fullbacks over the last few years, you'd rate all three as 9/10. But because hayne and inglis are also great in other positions (both are also 9/10 centres, hayne is 10/10 on the wing and inglis would probably still be a 9/10 on the wing) while slater would probably struggle in other positions (he'd probably be 8/10 winger and 7/10 centre) if you had slater in the same squad as hayne and/or inglis you'd play slater at fullback simply because it's the best fit for the team not necessarily because he is better then hayne and inglis.

The guy who's never going to play again?

Sorry HBH, the Duges is not suited to either of those positions by a long long way.

I want him in the Centres but hey, maybe it's not too late for dome intensive ball-playing training to work for him.

Inglis and Dugan will last longer, finish the game stronger, score and set up more tries and kill the least amount of brain cells if they play Centre. That is why Green, Benny or Robbo would not waste their energy traipsing the ball back from Fullback . . . but hey, opinions are wondrous things aren't they

TheDugan will play wherever TheDugan chooses to play, and you will love it, because TheDugan said so.

Dugan will play fullback for NSW and should be playing fullback for the Dragons as well. Fullback is his best spot.

Inglis sets up plenty of tries from fullback

He was much more impressive playing Centre in Melbourne but what do I know . . . I'm the bloke who said from the start that Idris wasn't built to play League because his belly button and nipples were out of tune

I think Idris' problem was that his nipples could touch his belly button.

Well most coaches want a fullback that actually returns the football so Boyd the f**k out of the no 1 jersey at rep level is an absolute no brainer.

So inglis wouldn't get the job of coote or boyd? Coote has just finished his best season ever while boyd had his best season since his time at the dragons, meanwhile inglis had by his standards a poor season. I know stats aren't the best way to judge a player, but it does make for interesting reading
These stats are on a per game basis for 2015
Tries
Coote:0.27
Boyd: 0.13
Inglis: 0.42
Slater: 0.29

Try assists
Coote: 0.68
Boyd: 0.53
Inglis: 0.68
Slater: 0.71

Metres
Coote: 135
Boyd: 130
Inglis: 137
Slater: 106

Linebreaks
Coote: 0.55
Boyd: 0 33
Inglis: 0.74
Slater: 0.57

All 4 are safe at the back, all 4 have their strengths, all 4 do plenty of the ball as well.
When it comes to importance to their teams, cronk and Smith are arguebly more important then slayer (they still made it to a preliminary final with munster at fullback), Thurston is the key player at the Cowboys, milford and Hunt are the key players at the Broncos, but inglis is by far the most influential player at Souths.
