and why ?

I would say NZ to help boost the local grassroots game and test the water for NRL exspansion.

USA. With marketing they could easily achieve crowds as big as the 2008 Cup did, the Australia games aside, and more importantly it would expose the Yanks to 'rugby' as being league and not union.

If the NRLUS (the pro comp) starts then yes. Otherwise, I doubt that it would be feasable.

NZ or France - wherever the expansion needs boosting more. If the Paris bid remains serious, than France, as it would boost Toulouse and Paris.

It should be co-host by NZ & Aus.

NZ & Pacific sides can play games in NZ.

Aus and some european countries play games in AUs.

If everything in RL is circulated between England and Aus - how is RL ever going to get out of Qland, NSW and Northern England??

USA is the obvious place, and the pro league would make it easier, but it isn't essential.
The game is growing organically in the US, but if we announced now that they have the 2017 WC the game will grow much quicker and governments would start bidding to have events in their cities.
If USA were given 8 years to organise from today, and a professional organising team started work from today, it would come off perfectly, and the game in the US would expand 10 fold by the end of the cup.

It's a gamble - on one hand it is true it would grow the US market. On the other hand NZ or France would make more money of it. England would make even more.

So RLIF would loose money if it would go anywhere but the traditional heartland. I think it's necessary to do it, but we need to think where it would bring the most gain in terms of development.

US would be a coup against rugby union if it would establish itself as a top-tier nation, and is very tempting. I would love to see it happen, but I seriously doubt it would work. Just imagine the NRLUS website handling the world cup progress news and there's the nighmare...

They're suppose to start a pro comp in the spring and we hear nothing out of US for months. There's still hope that they're keeping it hush because of the supposed reality TV show that's suppose to accompany the launch, but it's sloppy work nonetheless...

Is an extra 10 million profit in 2017 equal to delivering the richest nation on earth as a rugby league power for the next hundred years?

Australia... would be interested to see it elsewhere such as USA but realistically - it'll be Oz/NZ.

It'll be in Australia.

Maybe in NZ at a pinch since they'll have some nice purpoise built stadiums after the 2011 RUWC.

Anywhere else is a delusion. Sorry but that is a realistic view.

Agreed. The US is pie in the sky stuff if you ask me. I very much doubt you'd have cities bidding for games. As a matter of fact I'm sure we'd have to pay to play games.

It's 8 years time. I doubt the people behind the NRLUS website would be involved, to be honest.

I'm not surprised people have dismissed the USA idea. That has been the way of RL fans for 100 years, and as a result a far inferior code is much bigger globally. I agree that to hold a WC next year in the US would not be viable, but with 8 or even 5 years planning we could easily stage an event comparable in size to the 2008 cup. Five years ago there was no RLEF and the closest we had to European development was the Italy v Greece game in Sydney. People would probaby have said it was pie in the sky that we could have 20 genuine European nations competing regularly, Super League teams in France and Wales and almost 20,000 turning up to a Super League match in Spain. A lot can happen in that time. I will be very disappointed if the 2017 event is in Australia.

The sum profit of the whole RLWC is 10 million dollars??

Then by all means, take it to the US.. but I don't believe it's that low..

I agree with your comments about the US. No US city is going to put in a bid to host the world cup. It would look pretty embarrassing for the game if we asked for tenders. For the time being I would forget about the USA. We don't need them and to be honest I don't think they want us.

I still keep coming back to China or anywhere in Asia. Japan is another option. We need to grow the game in that part of the world.

Although I agree it's pie in the sky how do we not need USA? To rule out the US and then say try China instead is quite odd. I'd certainly be all for development in the US, I just think the WC is realistically only gonna be between Oz/NZ and England (perhaps France co-hosting... at a stretch) for the time being.

Tank if the game takes off in the US all and good. But to be quite honest I don't see it happening. Rugby League does not need the US to be successful world wide. I am not sure any sport does. The US is a closed shop in regards to new sports entering the country.

We need to look to new horizons. Like in our backyard. In the last 100 years the game has not expanded far from Australias and NZ shorelines. Asia is the developing region of the world.

The world cup is not hosted in a city. It's not the Olympics. Cities don't 'bid' to host the event. Equally, we're not talking about the time being. This is 8 years away FFS. If it's considered pie in the sky to arrange an decent sized event anywhere in the world in 8 years, let alone the richest and 3rd most populated country, then we might as well just give up completely.
