WHERE TO SHARKIES --- WHAT IS NEXT ???

I have posted this in another room but I think this topic should stand alone...................so here is my two bobs worth, repeated..

I am an old Shark Fan, and an old League Fan.

This type of stuff has been going on for a long long time now in Rugby League. It is not a recent occurrence. But, and the big BUT is, it is lately always around the SHARKS club. Time for crap to stop I say.

From a long distance viewpoint it would appear to me that something is very fishy in Denmark (or Shark Park in this case) and the club is on the road to nowhere until the crap is cleaned up.

If there is no "Club Spirit" then there is no club. Simple as that.

My view is, and I don't care who, what, when, or who did what to who, and whoose up who, and whoose not paying. The Club must clean up its act, and be seen by all to clean up its act. Finger pointing stops and let the league begin.

Some blame the Coach (he has now gone) some blame the board (when is the next election). The voices can be heard if they want to be heard.

I say start building Club Spirit now, grassroots level. United we stand, divided we come 12th or below.......

First, get rid of those bloody stupid Ninja Mutant Turtle jerseys and get back to a strip that represents the Sutherland Shire. The 88 strip was a beauty. Nothing with a tinge of green here, or silver there or a different darker blue, maybe pastellish, just give me the bloody Skyblue, Black and White of Cronulla Sutherland.

I mean do Souths and St George look stupid in their traditional colours. The old red and green and the old red V still send shivers down my spine when I think of the guys that played in them.

Get a pack of forwards who command RESPECT, and, who have fire in their bellies, not pretty boys who can run fast.

I want to see MY CLUB kick arse again........

Hi Gunna, The last time I looked i was still quigs. Still having the same old nightmares about "Bloody Bob Fulton". I have had them since September 1973. I keep see him running towards the corner and three Sharkies chasing him..They just can't get him. Make it stop !!!!!

Hey Quigs,
I too have the same nightmare from September '73. The only upside of that awful day were the number of girls at the Taren Point Youth Club dance that needed consoling (I always needed a big helping hand in that department). My turn to date myself badly. Do you remember "give it to Ray!!" in those first few years of Endeavour Field? Magic.

Mate my first years where at Taren Point, left when I was to for the greener pastures of Gymea and the Housing Commission. No complaints, great memories. I can even remember the Punt. and visiting TP playing with my cousin who still lived there. We'd go and play were they were dredging Sylvania Waters. I can even remember us little buggers climbing all over the Captain Cook Bridge as they were building it. You'd kick your own kids arses black and blue if they did what we did then as 5 or 6 year olds.

I am holding back on Ray yarns, Corcoran was one of the best attacking wingers I have seen, (thats serious) but he couldn't tackle his mother (with the exception of one brilliant try scoring diving tackle he made at Endeavour Oval way back. He ran from his side and ran down the opposition winger I think. It was the talk of the papers of the day, not the result, we won, but Rays tackle.)

Ive mentioned Ray in yarns about Tommy.

Do you remember our first ever Match of the Day at the SCG. Souths won 8.7. Ray scored the only try of the match and that was right on the death. He had already covered about 40 yards, stepping past two or three defenders. Between him and the tryline was only Eric Simms. They met on the 22 yard line. Ray made him look a mug. Had Simms clutching at thin air. But as true as I am typing this, Ray made a bee line straight for the South western corner of the ground. I was in the Sherridan stand and he was running straight towards where I was sitting. I could not believe my eyes. No bugger was chasing him and he is going towards the corner.

Every bloody cronulla player was pointing to the black dot. Every shark supporter in the crowd was yelling "Black dot" and whats ray do, he swan dives in the bloody corner.

I spoke to TommyBishop years ago and mentioned this game. He said he was nearly going to make Ray take the conversion attempt. The goal kicker missed it and Souths won.

Anyone out there with old RLW's look it up (and get in touch with Quigs)

The sight of a flying Corcoran.......if me memory serves me correctly, when he transferred up to Murwillumbah(not 100% sure of the club), the locals built a house for him as part of his transfer deal.

Hi ShireShark,

Not hard my bum.....they got and earned respect.

In the 73 pack we had a sly second rower by the name of John McGuire. Jack Gibson thought so much of him at the time, when he retired Jack got him to play another season with Parra just to teach some forwards "the Art"

I was sitting at the about the halfway mark of Endeavour Oval right on the fence, watching an old game between the Sharks and Parra. Could of been 73, just not to sure. But Dick Thornett was playing his last year for parra. Dick was lugging the ball up the field near the side line and right in front of me. A sharkie had taken him low and as he was falling to the ground I saw McGuire coming across in cover. He dived towards the falling Thornett and as he was off the ground he offloaded a right upper cut towards Thornetts falling chin. McGuire's knuckles must of skimmed the grass.

I had a birds eye view of this and when the punch landed Thornetts eyes rolled back. He was out before he hit the deck. He rebounded off the ground and the ball rolled free. Thornett was counted out. The linesy missed it and I saw it all......it was one of the best punches I have ever seen in all my years of following league.

You tell your mate they were Hard alright.

Quigs.
