Where will we finish in 2015?

We will finish where we deserve to finish, to use a Cleary-ism.

I would be stoked with another top 8 finish. 2014 was beyond my wildest expectations with a preliminary final appearance, and I think we will have a team that can definitely replicate that achievement... and maybe 1 or 2 steps further even.

This a multiple of 12 season as well... 1991 to 2003 (12 years), and so on. So from that perspective we are due. That may get a mention once or twice this year...

I still think unless we see Jennings, Blake, Cartwright and Peachey all have boom years along with Seg, Soward and Moylan stamping themselves as an elite spine, we are a year off.

Then again, the pieces of the puzzle for Souths premiership fell into place mid season with Walker,Johnston , Auva'a and Keary slotting into the team and having boom seasons.

That's true their younger blokes produced but they also had a monster pack that simply steamrolled a lot of sides. Unfortunately we don't have that type of pack.

Yeah I don't buy that our pack won't be dominant next year. Sure we won't roll over sides but we have probably the most skillful pack of any in my memory. It's going to be so hard trying to defend a side that has creative outlets in Peachey, Cartwright, Moylan, Soward, Segeyaro and Koroisau.

I thought Mansour was our only doubt for round 1 in the backline. I swear I read that Idris was looking at his first full and uninterrupted pre-season this year since his Bulldogs days.

No good me predicting - every season I look for someone to give me odds on the pennies having a season without loss. Undefeated minor premiers and premiership winners.

That's fantasy.

But seriously, less than top 4 would have to be considered a fail and missing the playoffs would be an epic fail.

I know you guys have eagerly been awaiting on my thoughts so here they are.

Panthers will finish around 9-12 I believe, they had a great year last year with an easier draw and pulling well above their weight but this year teams will know what to expect from them and will be ready for them they wont be surprise packages anymore.

I also highly doubt Soward can string 2 great seasons in a row and soward mainly carried panthers last year with a couple young good forwards coming through.

Regarding your pin up boy moylan- I think he will not get any further then city/country he is a good player but there is many fbs I would go for NSW before him even with hayne gone now to name some B Stewart,J Dugan he is not in their class yet.

Broncos2010, I can't argue with your assessment of Moylan. He has yet to produce at the highest level and Dugan and Stewart both have. He doesn't have Dugans' strength or Stewart's pace, but he is a better ball player than either of them. His silky skills may not be wanted at Origin, where NSW seem to prefer to have Gallen bash it up, followed by Bird, followed by Gallen, followed by Bird, followed by Ga....you get the picture. I don't think NSW want skill, they want toughness and speed, preferably both.

As for finishing 12th, if we assume we don't have too many injuries to key players, I will disagree with you. We have no reason to doubt Soward, he is a proven performer and even when he is average is better than most. The unknown is how the youngsters like DSW, Moylan and Korasaiu perform. They have only done it for one season, can they avoid second season syndrome? The core of the team is unchanged and if Peachey, Cartwright and Wallace stay uninjured, it will be like having three new signings. That will be enough for us to make the eight.

I think the eight will be, in no particular order: Broncos, Cowboys, Dogs, Manly, Panthers, Roosters, Souths, Storm.

This is the same eight as last year. I can't see anybody busting in and knocking those teams off.

Warriors - Win the comp or the spoon, who knows? Johnson and Tompkins are brilliant but the team can implode one week and smash the Premiers the next.
Eels - No Hayne is a massive hole in their team. Sandow looks fit and that will help, but they lost 50% of their firepower.
Tigers - New coach, is Taylor the real deal? Is the back office finally sorted? Brooks is a gun but there are too many unknowns.
Dragons - Having seen McGregor interviewed and looking at the forward pack, I think the coach and the forward pack are less than mediocre.
Canberra - Serious doubts about the coach. No real star players, lost their best player in the off season. No chance.
Titans - Massive question mark over their halves. Ageing marquee players in Myles and Bird. Back office issues. Is coach Henry any good? The jury is still out.
Newcastle - Hired a coach who wasn't recommended by Bennett (arguably the greatest coach ever), a CEO who used to play in the centres and has no experience. Dodgy coach, dogdy back office, ageing roster.
Sharks - They could be a smoky. A good roster with two brilliant signings in Barba and Ennis. But the roster is ageing and is injury prone. If Fifita and Barba fire up, watch out.

This is surprisingly a good post although I disagree with your first line. Also I think it's time you wrote some new material, the 2014 easy draw bit had been done to death by January last year.

Even with teams knowing what to expect from us this year, I think we will finish somewhere in the 8. Soward did have a great season last year but he had plenty of help from Segs and Moylan also but I do agree Moylan isn't origin standard, I still think he lacks a yard or two of pace before he is even considered for that.

I still think Cronulla are the dark horses this year, they have a good mix of experience and young blokes and if they stay healthy they will surprise a lot of teams.

You know it's a sad season when even broncos2010 can't be bothered baiting this forum anymore.

And it looks like he will have the most accurate prediction of our finishing position.

9-12 could even be a bit generous. Bottom 4 looks very possible.

We just don't have the depth to cover half a dozen injuries this year. Especially when they're stacked up in one position basically.
