Souths and the Sharks merge and play at shark park

Souths well and truely finished last in the criteria by a long long way, And will always struggle in the future, Cronulla are locked in geographicaly with nowhere to grow.

If these 2 clubs merged, then we would have a team that really geographically is south sydney. Making it 14 teams.

Then if you BRING BOTH the Central Coast Bears and Gold Coast (Dolphins)..... EASY!!!!! 16 quality teams

then look at Perth and wellington in years to come.

I would have to say that is the best sugestion ive heard.
I think GC and CC need to come in.
Melbourne must stay!

Rugby League is in a unique position because even if the games are not televised live throughout Australia, most people in this country know about the NRL. Compare this to the AFL. If the AFL is to expand where will it go? Darwin? Tasmania? Anywhere? They have exhausted their resources.

Rugby League has so many areas left to expand. A second Brisbane team. A Gold Coast team. A Central Coast team. An Adelaide team. A Perth team. A second NZ team. We are talking years down the track but this is what I would envisage for RL. Split the teams into two conferences. Matches between certain clubs will become more rare. Distribute an even number of sydney teams with an even number of interstate teams. Two distinct pools.

You would have

Qld:

Brisbane Broncos
Nth Queensland Cowboys
Gold Coast Dolphins
Brisbane (pick a name)

NSW:

Central Coast Bears
Newcastle Knights
Manly Sea Eagles
Sydney Roosters
South Sydney Rabbitohs
Cronulla Sharks
St Geroge Illawarra Dragons
Parramatta Eels
Canterbury Bulldogs
Wests Tigers
Penrith Panthers

ACT:

Canberra Raiders

Victoria:

Melbourne Storm

SA:

Adelaide

WA:

Perth

NZ:

NZ Warriors
Southern Orcas

(I think if a second NZ team is added Warriors should go back to Auckland and the Orcas should be named Wellington.

As to who should be kicked out of the NRL: No one. Melbourne must stay. They are a one team city with a population of over 2 million people (I know the figure is well over that). All we need to do is crack a small percentage of that market and the storm have the potential to be huge.

If the Rabbits were to merge, surely the Roosters are the best Geographic option.

Why get rid of any teams?

They all seem to be going along OK at the moment.

Oh yeah the raiders are definately the biggest losing team  That's why we've made the top 8 the last 3 years in a row.

How does 1/4 sound. As in 1 win from 4 GF's  It's morons like you that give rooster supporters a bad name. Go back to the cave you crawled out of and grow a brain.

I wouldn't put other teams through that. I'd rather forget about expansion than see one of these teams die to herald a more national game.

How many times have canberra made it to the grand final in the last 5 years? NONE!

How many times have Easts made the grand final in the last 5 years? FOUR!

See tidus... there is a huge difference between Easts and Canberra... it does not matter if we win the gf or not... it still makes easts the team to fear in semi finals football!

The chokers are the team to fear until the GF

It's funny how the Roosters have recruited ex-players from Canberra. First Stuart, than Finch (for this we thank you), then Monaghan and then Soward in your Flegg side.
