I am sure he loses sleep over it every day

Probably doesn't, but who gives a continental.
The thing is Charlie, everyone is entitled to an opinion. My opinion of Craig Bellamy is he is a great coach but with no morals in regard to the game. He is win at all costs and buggar the consequences. If you think that is the way to go, fine. I don't. When lack of principle gets in way of the spirit of the game, sport is in big trouble.

well considering the last 3 are tackles.
I could put up with a grapple tbh
I've had crusher put on me, relay doesn't hurt (my opinion may change if the guy was 110kg)
I think the ripper is the stupidest tackle technique because it doesn't have anything to do with rapping the ball up or slowing down an opponent. Only there to hurt an opponent, which is not on at all.

Yes, you are entitled to an opinion, but when you have zero to back up that statement, well, you come out to look like a senile old man....but the majority of us here know that.

pathertic response...

he is coaching dangerous tackles, if you bothered to watch some melbourne games you would realise this... instead you sit in front of your computer batting off to a picture of tonie carroll...

Chas, you know that I don't care what you think of me. If you think I'm senile that's fine.
Your opinion of me won't cause me to lose sleep, and vice versa.
I would like to know, btw, how you get a 'majority here know that'.
I would like to think that a majority on here appreciate my insights into the game as a follower of the code since the late fifties. But as I said Charlie, I don't care what you think of me, and I know you enjoy baiting me for a bite.
Good on you, sonny.

Bellamy is a great coach. Rated that by his peers in 2006 and 2007.
Melbourne introduced Grapple, Ripper, Crusher tackle under his coaching. What other facts do you require, Chassa.

Just like how you can accuse someone of having no morals in regards to Rugby League.
That is a very outlandish and baseless comment.

No, those terms were introduced by the media.

Accidents happen in the game. Look at Luke ODonnell vs the Tigers. He was put in an awkward position and he was out of the yr.
Heaven forbid if the Storm performed such a tackle.

The Nathan Cayless incident was blown completely out of proportion. White was trying to roll him on his back, as all clubs are coached to do, and unfortunately he was hurt.
This is rugby league, collision sport.

His blatant introduction of tackles to deliberately injure players convinced me the bloke has no morals when it comes to Rugby League. Ask Nathan Cayless what he thinks of the tackling techniques Craig has the Storm players 'masters' at.
Baseless...look at the way his team plays...Outlandish..I call them as I see them..and I don't need your stamp of approval on the way I think.
If you don't like it, ignore it.
It's a bit like you, simple sonny.

I agree.... And not WWF. Cayless is pinned while White is attempting to rip his arm out and cause a deliberate injury.
Smith the Australian Captain is doing the same to Grothe.
If you think those tackles are in the spirit of the game, you have a different view of Rugby League than me....

The grapple, crusher, ripper don't f**king exist. Buzzwords created by the media to put a story to opposition coaches bitching. Bellamy didn't invent wrestling in Rugby League, in U12s i was bloody coached to roll players on their back. So sick of Parra fans whining about everything.

Grapple easily for mine. None of them are nice... but being choked &/or having your neck twisted is far more scarier.

You're funny.

Could have sworn Melbourne's wrestling coach admitted that they'd been working on these tackles ...

Bellamy didn't invent wrestling in league but he did help introduce variations aimed at hurting opposition players. I man, that's his goal, to make players as uncomfortable as possible. When your neck is being squeezed or you think someone is about to break your back or rip your arm off, the last thing you're worried about is a fast play-the-ball.

That's quite different from simply wrestling a player into a position where it takes time to get up and play the ball.

The ripper. The tackle that got Luke O'Donnell was the first version of it.
Craig Bellamy has a lot to answer for introducing most of the dangerous plays into the game.
When sport comes down to taking players out of contention by inflicting injuries, it is time for the administration to have a good look at the rules.
And the worst part is Bellamy doesn't think he has done anything wrong.
He may be a great coach tactically, but in my opinion is sadly lacking in morals and sportsmanship. Lost me I'm afraid.
Could you imagine Jack Gibson or Wayne Bennett coaching their players to use those tactics?
When someone is really seriously injured, the code will find itself subject to legal action for failure to implement Duty of Care to the players. Mark my words!!!

well said Pete this post sums up beautifully how i feel about Bellamys tactics

bloody hell a Manly Supporter backing up a Parramatta supporter.....i think hell just froze over :D :D :D

The elbow to the face gets my vote. I didn't enjoy the six weeks with my teeth wired together, eating through a straw, with plyers around my neck to cut the wires in an emergency. And it was playing against those filthy Dragons to boot !!!
