The fact is, your club is based out in Redfern, essentially the Ipswich equivalent of New South Wales and the fans that define your club are just a bunch of redneck dole bludging internet heroes who talk it big during the off-season and play the role of the internet hero before being pacified by their own clubs poor performances.

That's not to say every supporter has those traits but just the stereotype I'm familiar with.

To be accurate, Ipswich is more like Campbelltown not Redfern.

Brisbane doesnt have an equivelant of Redfern. Then again, it doesnt have an equivelant of Bondi, Manly, Cronulla, Bronte, The Rocks, Double Bay, Darling Point or Watsons Bay either.

Been to Redfern lately Pete? Its been extensively revamped over the last 20 odd years. Sure there is still a street or two that will never change but the rest of Redfern is now called "Strawberry Hills" (I sh*t you not) and a two bedroom loft would cost the equivalent of the entire suburb of Ipswich. The dole bludging South Sydney fan is being forced out, firstly of Redfern and secondly of the club. Have you seen how much it costs to go to a game at ANZ? Have you seen how much our memberships cost? You can't be a member of Souths for $30 anymore and you can't jump the fence into Redfern oval on game day. The culture around our club is a changin.

Agree totally about us being the pre-season premier's each and every year though. I mentioned it in a post a bit earlier. No body talks up its chances more than my club at the beginning of each year. Sure as sh*t come October / November the Newspapers are flooded with articles about Souths chances for next year and South Sydney forum boards everywhere are flooded with unfounded optimism. This generally lasts until we lose a game and then the knives come out for the coach / various players. As I also mentioned earlier, you guys at LU don't see the full gamut of South Sydney supporterdom. Every team has its die hards though and they are all passionate to the deluded extreme.

I've heard rumours they're planning to replace the "Welcome to New South Wales" at the borders with Queensland to say "Welcome to AUSTRALIA"... :sarcasm:
