A great club, is it still operating?

Im going to LA next year, and i want to go to Hollywood for a couple of days for sight seeing and music shopping.

The Whisky is a famous place, in the late 70's to late 80's almost all of the succesful US bands started ther, including Van Halen, Motely Crue, Ratt, LA Guns. I don't know wether W.A.S.P, Poison, Gunners played there? anyone know?

Anyone have any info?

Yep sure is! staff are really friendly, good atmosphere. Not sure if the kind of bands that play there these days are really your bag though RJ. The most famous band that started out there is the Doors.

According to the Motley Crue bio (which I assume you've read) Blackie Lawless was a regular there when WASP were already well known (as ther Crue guys seemed to have looked up to him at the time) so I'd assume they played there. They were certainly regulars on the Sunset Strip scene.

I haven't read it lol

What a famous place, i think it was in David Lee Roths Autobiography ( not to sure) but he said that Gene Simmons tried to sign Van Halen after watching them play their once in 76 or 77.

Ratt actually done a film clip there for their song "Dance', never really liked that song but you get to see the how the club looked like etc.

By the way, in the Crue book, do they mention anything about Ratt?

I know for a fact that they were very close, that close that Robbin Crosby & Stephen Pearcy i think lived with Nikki & Mick Mars?

Also Mick & Nikki are in the film clip to "Back for more" by Ratt.

I read the book ages ago, but yes I do recall Nikki mention Ratt in his section of the book

Ron,
it's a while since I read it, I really don't remember to be honest. Now give yourself an uppercut and go out and buy/borrow the book, it's one of the best music bios I've read and I don't even liker c**k-rock much. You'll absolutely love it. I've done it before but I'll quote the (best ever) opening paragraph for you again:

Her name was Bullwinkle. We called her that because she had a face like a moose. But Tommy, even though he could get any girl he wanted on the Sunset Strip, would not break up with her. He loved her and wanted to marry her, he kept telling us, because she could spray her cum across the room.
