Each to their own pepe... some people even think that Melbourne were deserving premiers in 1999.

given the old final 5 system st george would'nt have made the finals finishing 6th after the home and away, maybe that's why they're so sporting in defeat;)

Mate, I'm very sporting in defeat... it just so happens that it wasnt the Storm who won in 1999.

for gods sake even kenny would concede wally was the better man.
Well you obviously have never spoken to Bertie then, he would concede no such thing. In fact his very good mate Lewis concedes that Kenny more often than not got the better of him in SOO.

Now Rex may indeed be flabbergasted and it may be mindboggling to you pepe but I stand by my assessment thatKenny was indeed a better 5/8. Though I do concede Lewis to be the better all round footballer.

There is no doubt that Wally was a gerat footballer, but it was politics, and the stroke of luck that saw him born a Queenslanderthat made him 'King'. Had he been born in Sydney he would have been Terry Lamb, and not much more..

Terry Lamb?

If he was born in NSW, for a start there would be no origin.

That is like saying if John Raper was born in Queensland he would be like Norm Carr.

No, if Johnny Raper was born in Qld he'd get of there quick smart. ;)

I think the point Misty was making is that Wally is held in enormous high regard in Qld because he was the first Queenslander in living memory to truly stamp his authority on the NSWRL while never leaving Qld.. the SOO did that for him. Truly, the stuff that legends are made of.

By staying in Qld, hesawwhere hiswould be best served.

He was crowned 'the King' by his fellow patriots... not because he was the best in Australia but because he was the best in Queensland.

Since when has the best player in Queensland and the best player in Australia been different things?
