Graham started playing first grade for the St. George club in the 1955 NSWRFL season.[1] The following season the club won the first of what would become a record eleven consecutive premierships, but Graham did not play first grade. However, at the end of the 1957 NSWRFL season St. George had again reached the grand final and Graham played at fullback in their 31–9 victory over Manly-Warringah.
A copy of said book, with a couple of signatures you might know.

Gawd , I used to love that particular style of jersey , the large red v certainly did give one the impression that the players were indeed 10’ tall .
Exactly. I remember one time when I was young, 6 or 8 or something. We were standing near where the players ran out so we got to have a look from close quarters.

They looked absolutely huge in the fresh white jerseys with the massive Red Vee’s. I was probably hooked as a supporter from that moment.

Yes I know exactly what you mean RedVee , that massive V is also what pulled me in , it was mesmerising to a young lad .

Gareth, you have used the word “mesmerising”. I used to think it was magical to see the line of Red Vees coming out of the home team dressing room at the SCG.
Mesmerising to a skinny 7 or 8 year old kid on a rainy winter’s day . Perhaps also the fact that when running onto the field at the beginning of the match the white jersey was so clean . I use to wonder how many times they were washed and how much SOLVO was used to get them that clean . But as you have said Dragonsteve2 it was a magical experience to watch them run out onto the field.

See the similarities there Willo, but my vote i think is still on Geoff Weekes. Good shot of him in the 59 GF team for comparison…?

Hey fellas. Just want to say, I love all the nostalgic gear from our very active “older crew” (not sure how else to put it?)
I am a St George boy through and through. Despite my username.
But if I can make a suggestion, to hopefully make everyone content.
Can we maybe have a specific thread for the glory years and other great memories from the bygone era?
I visit this forum every day. I look forward to reading other Saints supporters comment. (To a degree)
But when I see there are new posts in the “Rumours Thread”, and it’s nothing of the sort. It’s a bit disappointing.
Please don’t misinterpret this at all. I am proud of my old jersey which was signed personally, by Raper, Gasnier, Langlands and Walsh.
I just think there should be a thread dedicated to that.
I apologise in advance if this comes across the wrong way.

There's always the subforum directly above the threads. For some reason it gets missed.
Dedicated to the memorable stuff.
It's an excellent idea Timmo and I agree 100%.

PS. I can move the most recent nostalgia posts into that subforum if no one objects (say, a dedicated "Who is this?" thread).

No offence taken Shaun , I must confess that my mind does tend to revisit the pass in many aspects of my life of late , not only rugby league . Still there is no doubt that some of my posts have indeed taken threads off the beaten track on a number of occasions recently.
