Who Is Your Most Hated Player?

Who from the opposite state tops your list?

Its a long, long list for me --- as it should be for anyone. Michael Hancock, Mal Meninga, Chris Walker, Justin Hodges, Wendell Sailor, Billy Slater, Gorden Tallis...I could go all day. geniuss to a man.

However...

I'm just a fraction too young to remember Wally Lewis taking the Blues apart, but I damn sure remember that wretched little grub Allan Langer.

I despise none more than Alfie, the merkin.

From the current team I despise GI, Hodges, Thaiday and to a lesser extent, Slater. I have a begrudging respect for most of the rest - past and present. The four I mentioned do tend to grind my gears though.

The only retired maroon I think is a total wanker is Chris Close.

Not even Chris Walker!?

What about Michael Hancock? This cockroach-faced grub won four premierships & I never saw him smile once!

Slater for being a cheating little merkin, Thaiday for being a cowardly grub, and Inglis for being a traitor.

In the good old days, Tallis and Alfie were my big hates. And Tonie Carroll too.

EDIT: Hated Loz when he played for us, though. Him and Noddy.

Inglis- woman bashing traitor with a heart the size of a pea.
Close- bitter old has been with a massive NSW inferiority complex.

Inglis: ("alleged") woman basher, traitor dog and salary cap cheat-just a sh*t human being
Justin "threatening gestures" Hodges...glass grub and general merkin
Smith: looks like he should be doing my taxes and another cheat and grub. A 3 year old corpse has more personality

I was privileged to be in the crowd the night Chris Close gave it to Eric Grothe as he tried to hang on to Gary Belcher's leg. A very decent move by Close, saving the referee the hassle of giving Grothe 10 in the bin. A good man.

Did that kick in after four wins in a row; or five; or six; or seven?

Probably when they sang the queensland song after an Australian Victory.

They are toxic. They arent very nice people on or off the field.

Turn this thread into 'Which Player from the opposite state do you actually like' and maybe il give a serious answer.

Are you talking about the players or anybody who comes from North of the Tweed? Not true if that is the latter.

The issue is the fact that a reasonable number of them (definitely not an overwhelming majority) are poor winners and sore losers with an opinion entirely reliant on their biased, (often) amusingly parochial sports media and a victim mentality which they believe excuses them or the team they follow of any wrongdoing, ever. Such an attitude should have died with Sir Joh's political career...

Out of the current crop probably Blake Ferguson. Not for anything he's done in the Sky Blue, it's just because he's been dopey for the majority of his career.

In the past...

Was never a fan of Joey Johns. Not due to my allegiance but because one of the most impressionable games of all time was the 2000 prelim. I hated how cocky the Newcastle players were acting that night and how much of a superstar this Andrew Johns was. I was so happy to see Freddy show him up that night and I always wanted to see the Maroons get the better of him. Looking back, I accept he's one, if not the best player to lace up a boot and I respect his contribution to the game at all levels.

Ryan Girdler was probably the first Blue I ever hated and that was simply because he was too good. The bastard put 32 points on us! He had to pay! The dislike didn't last long though, his frequent role on the Footy Show won me over and I was genuinely happy to see him help the Panthers to their 03 premiership.

Then there's Brett White who I always saw as the NSW Carl Webb. Remembered for an ugly incident on the field and nothing more. Was a crappy player and didn't deserve to play the amount of Origins he did.

I never liked Gus around Origin time. Around 02-04 he just came across as the biggest attention seeker who'd carry on like a diva to generate as much hype as he could. I understand his intentions were meant for good but he didn't have to constantly make himself the centre of it. What really rubbed me the wrong way was that Gus had no issue racing onto the field and celebrating with the players like he had been out there making 40 tackles and carting the ball up 15 times but then when times got tough he'd walk up the tunnel before time was even called. Gus had a great team of players, they deserved the accolades, not him.

I always find it rich when Blues supporters spend more time critiquing the passion of their northern rivals instead of getting behind their own team. Thankfully that started changing on here in 2011, before then only a handful of supporters (eg. JW, kungl, RABK) knew what it was about.

I hope you remember as well as I do Johns dropping the ball with their last roll of the dice, & then slamming his mouthpiece into the turf. The dummy spit!

Man, the Knights players & their fans were c**ks in the week leading up to that game.

f**king thaiday

I dont remember any player i've wanted to see get knocked down as much as him.

Andrew Gee - Just a grub and wasn't a very good player to begin with but somehow played numerous origin games.

Past Players

Michael Hancock - the way he resented being tackled just rubbed me the wrong way. He trashed around like an epileptic goldfish out of water.

Brett Dallas - every time he ran the ball he had a look of total chronic constipation on his face.

Ben Ikin - for being Ben Ikin. Enough said.

And the usual suspects - Wally Lewis and Alfie Langer. Not so much hatred but jealousy. They always seemed to pull something out of their bag of tricks to put the Blues away.

Current Players

Sam Thiaday - another one who resents being tackled. One day his head will fall off with all that shaking it around.

Nate Myles - a niggly turd who deserves what he gets on the field.

Justin Hodges - the original glass man. Acts tough until confronted - a peaheart.

And the usual suspects - Cam Smith and Billy Slater. Smith's tackling technique and Slater's leading with feet or knees first get up my nose.

Smith, Thaiday, Hodges, Slater, Tate and Myles in the current mob. I hate these pricks so much that I support NZ on ANZAC day.

In the past I hated Carlaw, Mckenna, Rogers Jr (how could he turn his back on us after who his father was?), Lockyer, Carroll, Moore (QUEELADAH!), Dallas (ugly merkin).

I'm sure there are various others that will come back to me.

Never really had a problem with Gordie, the bloke was great for Origin I thought.

Oh and Martin Lang. Never have I known a player that I genuinely hoped would break his neck with every hit up he took.
