Who needs a winger?

I can't recall seeing a more disinterested, high-calibre player than Val Holmes. Looks like he'd love to be anywhere but in a Cronulla jersey. He's looking to be offloaded for sure.
exactly...thought the same thing...looked like an Easter Island statue ....no emotion..

Would take Val in a heartbeat ... be honest with him .. you are not going to play fullback with us but in our team you will be the best right wing in the comp.

I rekon it started when Duges was signed and was overlooked by Flanno for Moylan. It's a bit strange as he is flying high as a winger in the green and gold.

A bit more Ah Mau determination wouldn't go astray, you can't win them all.

Holmes will only move to another club if he's promised a fullback spot.
He's acting like a petty child. Kicked up a fuss in the off-season wanting to play fullback and not on the wing, eventually getting his way. Then proves to everyone how shit he is at fullback and gets shifted back to the wing, where he's probably one of the best in the world. Then proceeds to show disinterest, putting himself first rather than the team.

That's an ego I could go without.

In all fairness he barely got a touch of the ball last night. Most of the Cronulla ball was being sent to the left edge. When the ball finally went right you could see Dugan and Holmes combining quite well.

Dugan "combining" be careful you aren't laughed out of the place by the Dugan haters.

Disagree. How much ball did he get all game? Not much. Flannigan is starting to remind me of Mary in regards to Mann. Got a couple of games at FB and then shafted. To have three different fullbacks in 6 rounds is hardly stabilising for their team.

But hunt was equally at fault ib the first one

Agree...I still think this is a big weakness. and wonder whether we would be better served with Mann in the centres. Aitken as has been suggested previously, could be transitioned into the forwards.

This has occurred for a few seasons...Last Year Aitken did the same thing. Opposition coaches will target this. So either our coaching staff fix the problem, or we continue to leak points on the right edge.

(Aitken's last ditch tackle on E.Lee was something special.)

Agree...But unless the coaching staff fix his weaknesses which have been there for a number of seasons ( Tends to jam in defensively and leave a hole/ Doesn't pass to winger ) opposition teams may have a field day. . Aitken has many positives but a team is only as strong as their weakest link and other coaches will suss this out.

I am of the opinion that our staff should fix this pronto before it becomes our achilles heel. Nothing against Euan, he is a talent.

It looks to me like it is being worked on a lot. That edge defence is much improved, last night was their worst performance this season. Still needs continued work but it certainly looks like it’s happening. The sharks threw everything they had at them and they defended most of it. Last year they’d have defended half or less.

They scored 2 tries. Against top line opposition that is massive.

Problem is that our Right winger isn't fast enough to adjust to Aitkens mistakes in defence which makes it even worse ... One try was scored with Nighty about 5 in and Hunt on the wing ... the line was just a mess on that one.
