Let's agree on one thing...

It would have been literally 10 times the intensity and excitement of a RU Six Nations match yet it got a poxy crowd compared to 6N...

So instead of a bitch session as to why St Helens never sell out their stadium, what can RL do in reality to promote and expand a obviously superior product...??

sort of off topic but the thread was saying this way anyway.

I think it would be a good idea for a Wigan and St Helens to try and get Anfield for a game, promote it as "the biggest rivalry in RL" or something like that. St Helens members get in free and Wigan and Liverpool FC members get cheap tickets, and tickets to the general public not too expensive. Getting Anfield would be the major stumbling block though.

back on topic now, that was a great game, Graham V Bailey was good to watch.

The 6N "rugby" (the BBC's expression) has the full backing of the British media whilst rugby league is a niche sport nationally. Until there is some parity with the respect and exposure rugby league and rugby union receive in the media then we'll always be third (or fourth) best.

It was a fantastic match. Just watched it this afternoon - a great advertisement for the European game. :thumn Followed by a brilliant advertisement for the Australasian game - Manly v Warriors.

it certainly is'nt in the NRL either

I'm not sure anyone was suggesting it was there universally. However, the intensity has certainly risen in the NRL so far this year - the ball is in play longer, there are more sets, the ruck is speeding up, etc., and most of the games so far have been very evenly contested.

Best game of SL i have ever seen by far. Between that and the Manly v warriors game was a great sunday watching the footy.

I hope Australians actually tune in to watch it cause it would be a shame to miss out on seeing how good the SL can be. I think a lot of people just assume that every game is really low standard.

Have you ever been to Knowsley Rd? Its a sh1t-hole! Fully terraced apart from a small grandstand. There's one reason they probably don't get higher numbers through the turnstiles.

Roughy... this was actually a brilliant game of rugby league, how-ever it is the exception, not the rule in super league. Unfortunately its usually left to a Saints v Rhinos game to produce a spectacle like this.
