Who should be 2008 SOO Coach?

Knights Coach Brian Smith writes an article for The Newcastle Herald every friday.

Today he writes about the origin match and states he would like to see Gus Gould as coach next year with joey as assistant.

I think it's a great idea.

Thoughts anyone?

Don't see gus coaching, i dont think he wants to... i think Bellamy will do it, but i do see joey as assistant. I hope is assistant at the knights for a couple of years. Though in saying that i also heard he wants to get out of the "fishbowl" that is Newcastle.

I know joey has said recently that coaching would be hard(knights) because he's so close to the players

But whose to say in a couple of yrs. alongside Smith as assistant

as long as he stays helping mullo and walsh for a year or so.

If Gus could be convinced to come back, I'd take him as SOO coach in a heartbeat. He's great at instilling passion in the side and has a soft spot for Newcastle players :p

Failing that, Craig Bellamy.

Tim Sheens. Although that could mean the end of Danny Buderus' rep career, but thats not such a bad thing from a selfish Newcastle perspective.

Gus would be my personal pick, but as previousluy stated, he probably doesn't want the job anymore. But he was one coach who could put passion into a team of talents.

I think Sheens would do a better job of galvanising a team of mostly strangers. He knows how to form combinations and what roles suit the individual player. Loves his tactics too.

To be honest SOO has lost it for me. There are better club games at the moment, it's lost that something that it used to have, seriously I was having trouble getting interested after 20 mins the other night. All the expectation that used to be there before the games has disapeared, not sure if that's because the characters have gone, or that it's become too clinical but for me I'd rather watch a good NRL game these days.

That's cos like the NRL, the quality is way down. SOO2 was a terrible game of footy. Horrendously boring to watch.

It's a great pie in the sky idea to have Gus and Joey as coaches, but I honestly can't see the job going to anyone other than Craig Bellamy.
