Not fair for any to be the loser in that contest, both fabulous players. Jones was the heart and soul of NZ footy for a generation, while Hanley was arguably the worlds best player for a few seasons, performing in England, Australia and in international competition.

I'm going with Hanley for his overall influence on important games and ability to play multiple positions. He will be remembered for generations to come.
