I'm surprised Hayne got ten votes, I don't think either him or Dugan are in the class as other players in that list, as they only featured in the last two seasons (as fullbacks in first-grade) of the decade. Surprised Hunt and Wesser didn't get a few more votes too.

Definitely agree that Slater, Lockyer and Minicheillo should be the top three.

So many great full backs, it's hard to choose

But for me Slater has been the best over the period in question, purely because he's played so much more than the other talented players who could be construed as "better" or on par with.

Mini is up there, but has been cruelled by injury. Lockyer, as brilliant as he is, spent most of the decade at pivot and should be remembered for playing at that position.

Patton was the most consistent player at full back over the period. He rarely missed games and when he was there was as solid and dependable a player as you could want in your side. Not prone to brain explosions and his ability was under rated by most.

Schivkovski was a great talent and deserved to make the list. But like another Roosters fan, I'd like to give that honourable mention to Luke Phillips. His bravery (some say complete stupidity) in saving tries and his general positional play was exceptional. It's such a pity that once he found a home at the Roosters after wandering round the NRL trying to crack first grade that his career was ended by a neck injury. I still cite him as my all time favourite Roosters player.

He goes close for me... so close...

Mini had the best ball returns at his peak and Hunt took over.

Lockyer and Hodgson had the best passing games.

Slater has both.Add to this his blistering speed and the way he attacks the ball...he is once in a generation excitement machine player

One other thing Slater also gets alot of credit for is positioning his defence and his communication from the back..Im sure all fullbacks have to play this roll but Ive heard it noted as being a real highlight of his game.

Josh Dugan in the poll :lol::lol::lol::lol:

More than half the options are ridiculious. Patten? McKinnon? People vote two ways. They're either blind with bias and vote for players like the above mentioned. Otherwise they'll decide between Slater and Lockyer, and to a lesser degree, Minichello.

Luke Phillips. The guy is a legend. if it wasn't for him we'd have lost the 2000 GF by 40. He was the driving force behind our victory in 2002. He put heart and soul into everything.

In following with the general theme I'm going to vote for Luke Patten, seeing as the majority of people just vote for the player from their own team.

Lockyer. Best player I've seen, and that includes the likes of Lewis, Meninga, Sterling, Langer, Fittler, and Johns.

Minichello next - the complete package at his best.

Slater third - hate him, but his sheer speed makes him the most dangeours broken play runner I've seen.

With some of the names here surely guys like David Peachey, Robbie O'Davis, Robbie Ross at least need a mention. Maybe Brent Webb as well.

If you said who is the best fullback in the last 10 years it would be Lockyer, Hayne then Mini. Considering that Lockyer and Mini only played 3 seasons at fullback in those 10 years and Hayne played 3 halfseasons and one full season at fullback then it has to go to be Slater who has been the best fullback over the last 10 years(even thou i voted hayne).

The only players that get close to lockyer at his best is Hayne and Mini, Slater at his best is still behind guys like Bowen, Shifa, Hodgkinson and even Wesser at their best but he has been very good now over 5-6 years at fullback and has become alot more consistant then he was when he first started. Unfortunatly for him I think with the storms being severly depleted his impact will diminish and guys like Dugan, Coote, Hayne and Boyd will overtake him. If Cronk leaves the storms at the end of 2011 (he will want a huge pay increase - only on 350K apparently) then this will hurt slater more because they are so good at reading eachother.

Luke Phillips I remember debuted for us in 96, I was sad to see him retire after only 7 seasons at the age of 27.

Im as diehard rooster as they come and I would find it difficult to say Mini was the complete package.

Great ball runner and returner (never got dominated and made the 2nd play alot easier off his first run).

Hit holes like a bullet... but his passing game is shocking...I would cringe everytime he made a break and had to off load to support.

He also could drop balls when he hit a hole... great under the high ball though.

in regards to the list, schif was an oversight and should've been there ahead of mckinnon. dugan was probably a dubious selection but threw him in

i'm pretty happy with the rest of the list though:

peachey - i think he did his best work pre 2000
o'davis - see peachey
ross - pfft
webb - not better then the people on the list
burt - not a fullback
